  In the past and present, The United States has allowed millions and billions of immigrants. At a time between 1920and 1930, an increase of population because of immigrants was 16 percent. Although, for the decade that ended in the 1940s, immigration declined to eight percent. The growth of population not only declined significantly, but the rate of male children born during these years, also declined significantly. Today immigration policies have changed throughout history. For instance in 1970, Congress put together a former process, helping foreign- born come to the United States. Just a century later, after large levels of immigration, the federal government took over the job of reviewing and processing all immigrants trying to enter the United States. Many changes since then are made to the immigration policy.
      The United States has the ability to deny or refuse visas from a permanent or temporary. For instance, people could be denied access for their present health conditions, or if the immigrant carries disease. Immigrants may also denied access if they have a criminal history, or thought to be terroristic. On the other hand, concerns of the likelihood of their “becoming a public charge,” and seeking work in the United States without the proper documentation. Some grounds maybe waived for some access categories. Permanent resident’s goals of the current immigration policy are wide ranging. One being to reunite families by giving immigrants who already have family members as United States citizens, to admit workers in occupations with strong demand for labor, and to provide refuge for people who might be facing the risk of political, racial, or religious prosecution in their home land.
