As a result of the Colombian Exchange, it is my personal opinion that the world as a society went, was   made better. There were finally foods that the nutation went farther to sustain populations. There becomes a larger sugar supply for the common, working class people could use cover the taste of rotting food. It opened more jobs for the working class citizens. Some may argue that disease like smallpox spread killing many, but even if people didn’t bring goods around that often, these disease would have spread there eventually. Clearly, just from the Columbian Exchange there was such a large impact on European society.

Of   the Columbian Exchange one of the most noted vegetable in history is the potato plant . Since bringing the potato plant to Europe in 1570, the Europeans had a great disliking to this vegetable. One reason of this was like the English who preferred meat and had their superstitions about the plant,   and so it was mostly consumed by the poor lower class or used as a food for livestock. Then, it wasn’t until the revolutionary war that the people started to really eat the crop because of food shortages and sustaining the population. Then, there was the economical impact, the crop was able to grow in the worst conditions of drought, in high altitudes, and in unyielding fields. This would   almost guarantee farmers with a crop to sell and feed their families with. If the potato crop was not introduced to the old world, millions more of people would have died along with the plague, setting European societies back for decades.

Secondly there were the spices that the new world provided the Europeans and with no refrigeration technology, food rotted in the heat and so people relied heavily on spices and adding ingredients to cover the taste like sugar. Though, the Spaniards did bring the sugarcane crop to the new world, it flourished as a crop there and was able to bring it back to Europe for profit. This drew in more wealth to the country in...
