Have you ever heard your friends say that college sports are the same as professional sports? College sports and professional sports have their differences. They have a few things different from each other. College sports are a level below professional sports. The coaches try and pick the toughest teams to play against so their players can get the best players to play against. Playing against someone is going to make a player twice as good because they have to work twice as hard to be better than their opponent. College sports are different from professional sports because of what the players play for, the rules of the game, and the referees.
The first thing that makes college sports different to professional sports is what the players play for. In college sports the athletes usually play for their fans/schools, their reputation, and for the national championship. The athletes play for their fans because they want to make them happy, so they will keep coming to the games. They play for their reputation because if they play good then the professional teams might want them. In professional sports the athletes usually play for money. This makes the college coach look like a great coach, so it works out both ways. The professional players want more and more money as they get better and start to play more often.
The second thing that makes college sports different from professional sports is the rules of the game. Most of the rules for college sports are the same as the rules for professional sports. There are only one or two things different for the two. For instance in college football they only need one foot in bounds when catching a pass; in professional football they need both feet in bounds when catching a pass. In college the three point lines are different than the ones in the NBA. Other than that the rules are pretty much the same.
