1.Determine whether the equation defines a function with independent variable x. If it does, find the domain. If it does not, find a value of x to which there corresponds more than one value of y.

This is not a function. When x=3, there are two values of y, -4 and 4

2.Use the graph of the function to estimate:

3.For the following graph:

a.Find the domain of f.(-∞,∞)

b.Find the range of f.(-∞,4)

c.Find the x-intercepts.(-1,0),(3,0)

d.Find the y-intercept.(0,3)

e.Find the intervals over which f is increasing.(-∞,1)

f.Find the intervals over which f is decreasing.(1,∞)

g.Find the intervals over which f is constant.(1,4)

h.Find any points of discontinuity.
