There were many consequences that had resulted from the collapse of absolutism in France. Some of these consequences are political, social, and economic. The Third Estate, which played a big part in the French Revolution, was no longer able to take the harsh treatment of the absolute monarch, King Louis XVI’s power over the nation. Enlightenment ideas questioning power and authority, the economic crisis, and the fact that Louis XVI was a weak leader were all reasons for the collapse of absolutism of France and the start of the F.R.

Political changes and consequences had been happening throughout the French Revolution. As the Third Estate had finally gained the power they’ve been craving for so long, they finally turned into the National Assembly and passed laws and reforms in the name of the French people. In 1789, they adopted a statement of revolutionary ideals called the Declaration for the Rights of Man. Its ideas were based on the ideas of enlightenment writers and the Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson. Led by Robespierre, the Jacobins came into power. Robespierre, considered to be a dictator of France, had led the French to a period of time called the Reign of Terror which led to the collapse of absolutism in France.

There were many economic consequences as well that resulted from the collapse of absolutism in France. After the National Assembly came to power, many thought that the economic turmoil of France would begin to get better, but it didn’t. The food shortages and government debt remained. This caused the Revolutions leaders to turn against one another. The National Convention governed the nation of Franc after Robespierre died. Many moderate leaders had enriched themselves with ideas that King Louis XIV had done. Despite this corruption, they gave their troubled country.
