Coachella a Life Changing Experience
Coachella a Life Changing Experience
Going to the Coachella Art Festival was one of the best moments in my life. I made so many friends and have so many great memories that will last a life time. It was a last minute trip that I will never forget. The incredible music and intense amount of art culture and creativity made Coachella an unforgettable experience and should be seen by everyone at least once in their lives.
Over the last few years I have heard so many of my friends and family talk about how much fun they have had at Coachella and how it’s something I have to experience. Now I had a good idea of what it was and it never really interested me at all; however, I remember hearing about last year being really good and had spectacular performers like Snoop Dog, Dr. Dre, Cee lo Green and Miss Lauryn Hill. These are artist that I really enjoy and would have loved to see last year. This year when all my co-workers started talking about it non-stop how they are planning their trip and that they had seventeen cars that were going up with them, I started second guessing myself and was actually wishing I was able to go. When I found out who was headlining and the other musical guest I decided that I wanted to go
It was going to take a miracle for me to go because there was only a week before Coachella so I gave up on the idea and just figured I would go next year, but It just so happened that I hurt my knee playing basketball the Monday before the festival. My doctors said I couldn’t go back to work till next Monday; as a result, I called my friend at work and she gave me the bright Idea to go on craigslist and look to buy a last minute ticket to Coachella and that she would take care of everything else. For the next two days I searched frantically and bought my ticket Tuesday night at a shady Mc Donald’s in Ontario and paid face value for the ticket. It was official, I was going to Coachella.
We left at two in the morning Thursday at and seventeen cars

As you know, I am a musician. For the last five years of my life I've played guitar, and recently I've joined the local band, Corrosion. Since joining Corrosion, my interest in the entertainment industry, especially the musical aspects of it, has brought forth new ideas and questions. Questions like, "How much should professional recording cost?" and, "How would someone break into the industry and where would you start?". These are the questions that drive me to be a better musician. Other questions like, "What kind of college options are available out there for someone who wants to do some sort of audio recording and mixing?", are what make me want to attend this trip. I believe…

The Spring Festival, which is commonly known in the west as Chinese New Year, is the most important festival for the Chinese people and the moment that all family members get together just like Christmas. People who live or work away from home will go home before the Spring Festival. Therefore, it is the busiest time for the transportation systems. Spring festival is my favorite festival because all my family members can get together and that family plays an important role in my life. My family members don't live in the same city, so we can only meet each other on Spring Festival. The most memorable of spring festival for me is the year when I went to Xi'an to visit my grandfather with my mom and dad.…

I had never planned on attending the opera. It just never seemed like "my thing." I grew up on a steady musical diet of electronic dance music and modern American rock music. It just so happened that one evening my sister and her husband had tickets to see a performance of Giacomo Puccini's 1910 western opera La Fanciulla del West was the same evening a friend of her's from college was in town. I woke up that morning without ever thinking of attending anything at the world-famous Metropolitan Opera, but as luck would have it by the afternoon I had plans to be in attendance that evening.…

On the night of November 5th, one of my favorite rising hip hop stars, Hoodie Allen came to the Sacramento State campus. When I first heard of the concert I thought to myself, Hoodie is pretty famous why would he be performing at Sacramento State? Of course I had to see him, so I reached out to a bunch of my friends from my hometown to come with me on that fine night and I’ll tell you it was worth the ten dollar fee. Hoodie lit up the stage with his intense energy and his interaction with the crowd. Although being incredibly hot due to the mass amount of people being in the ballroom at the same time, it definitely will go down as one of the greatest concerts I have been to.…

August 27, 2012, you and your friends pile into the care and you drive until you finally reach nowhere, also known as Black Rock Desert. Burning Man, a week long experience of art, exploration, freedom, and expression. When attending Burning Man there are not many rules, only a select few that are enforced. One of the enforced rules of Burning Man is that you leave the land the way you found it. If you bring it you take it. Volunteers stay weeks after Burning Man to make sure the desert is clean. Burning Man has a permit that allows up to 50,000 people to attend and this year, for the second in a row, they have sold out again. One thing that they mention to you when you get your ticket is that if they feel you can’t meet your basic needs (food, water, shelter…etc.) then they will not let you in and will ask you to turn around. People see this event as their ticket to express themselves completely with no fear of judgement. You may be thinking that people who deal with the crazy heat and harsh conditions are out of their minds but it is all part of the experience of survival and promoting being respectful of the land. How does this relate to you? Burning Man helps encourage artistic freedom and encourages unity.…

Last month, on Friday, January, 30, 2015, at 7:30 in the evening my friends and I attended a concert, Wind Symphony, in downtown Toronto. It was at the Edward Johnson Building McMilan Theatre, 80 Queens Park. The concert was conducted by the University of Toronto band and the conductor was Tony Gomes. The two musicians that played my instrument were Brian Burell, and Caleb Michalski. The layout is that there were clarinets in the front to the left and the flutes were at the front to the right. There were a lot of clarinets and flutes! Whereas, in our Beginner band class, the location is opposite. Also, behind the clarinets were the trumpets. In comparison, the trumpets weren't as many as clarinets because the tone and volume are much stronger and effective with less people. Beside the trumpet players were the trombone players. To the far right in the back were the euphoniums/baritones and tuba. There were 2 euphonium players and 1 tuba player. Lastly, all along the back of the stage were the percussionists. There were many different kinds of percussion such as tenor drums, sticks, harp, piano, and many more. The compositions of many instruments made the concert very harmonic.…

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a must-see if one lives in or is visiting New York. It is for all ages and types of people. Honestly, I was expecting the visit to be euphoric which was too high of an expectation. However, the museum was very interesting and mentally challenging. The pieces of art were beautiful and complicated which made it pleasing for me to just observe them. This was my first visit to the Metropolitan and I am not disappointed at all. I do hope to go back there once this class has ended to see what I have…

Since its beginning, the Coachella music festival has seen a rise in popularity and price, attracting not only a wider audience but also exhibiting a greater tendency toward “mainstream” music. Though the culture of the festival itself has changed, the poster that advertises it has remained surprisingly the same. The poster depicts the bare Indio Valley with a mountain in the background, palm trees across the horizon, and a dramatic sky taking over much of the space. In the forefront, the three-day line-up is displayed. The poster never contains advertisements, the font is always the same, and the structure of the line-up never changes. With this layout Coachella places the music at the center of the festival, but upon deconstructing this poster and removing that center, it is clear that it is also creating a carefully constructed image of an idyllic, tranquil, and understated event that is committed to maintaining its originality. However, this is in fact a crafted image and Coachella is far more affected by the presence of its audience.…
