Abstract

Club IT has excelled as a nightclub, yet there is room for information technology improvements.   Club IT desires to gain a competitive business advantage through active participation through e-commerce and web site applications. Club IT needs to take advantage of the information resources that are currently available. Conducting cost benefit analysis will help Ruben and Lisa compare the costs and benefits of an IT investment.   The traditional systems development life cycle would not only help to create a system that meets the needs of the Club IT staff, but also its clientele. This paper will provide analysis of the information technology status of Club IT and identify three business problems faced in terms of resources, customers, and supply chain.

Club IT, Part 2

After reviewing Club IT’s application portfolio it is determined there are three areas that need addressing.   One of the business problems with Club IT’s information technology is its internet connection. Currently, Club IT operates using a dial-up connection.   Dial-up connections are less expensive when compared to high speed internet connections, but dial up connections require an active phone line.   If one is using the phone line to make a phone call or send a fax, the internet can not be used.   Adding additional phone lines is an option, but that will not change the speed of accessing or opening pages on the internet.   High speed internet allows multiple computers to operate on the same line without problems of speed.   Dial up connections are generally incapable of supporting any potential upgrades that may come after completing JAD, joint application design, analysis.
