Club IT, Part One
The intention of this paper is to concentrate on the mission and primary customers of Club IT.   I will also briefly discuss the role of the information technology department and how to manage its information resources.   Chapter 2 of the Rainer and Turban text (Information Systems: Concepts and Management) lists five strategies for Competitive Advantages.   I will discuss how Club IT can use Operational Effectiveness Strategy to gain a competitive edge over its rivalries and improve the manner in which the club operates.   According to Rainer and Turban (2008), operational effectiveness strategy improves the manner in which internal business processes execute so that a firm performs similar activities better than its rivals (Chapter 2).
Club IT’s mission states that the club’s goal is to personalize each customer’s visit with music, entertainment, and dining. The goal of Club IT is to brand the business by creating an atmosphere that entices customers to visit the establishment regularly and leave with ultimate satisfaction.   Club IT is focused on creating a long-term sustainable advantage by providing customers with competitive, consistent service that can be associated with the name of the business. Club IT plays a variety of music and has entertainment for all age groups.
Club IT’s information resources include Internet and Intranet resources.   Using the password provided gives employees and registered customers immediate access to substantial information about the club.   Employees will be able to review pay information, manuals, privacy information, directories, upcoming events, as well as download forms.   A suggestion box is also accessible online. These suggestions are taken very seriously and are used to improve the service offered by Club IT.     Club IT should make sure the suggestion box on the website is accessible externally as well as internally, so that the public’s voice can also be heard.   Club IT will listen to...
