A debate between which diaper is best for your child is not an easy question to answer. When a parent is deciding on which diaper to use, the first that comes to mind is the disposable diapers because they are more convenient to use, but costly. Cloth diapers are much less expensive, especially when you wash them yourself. I’m going to be giving you some advice on each diaper, how each one affects our environment, and the cost of each one. Disposable diapers are more easily to use and to clean up from. There are different types and styles of disposable diapers, ranging from simple plastic covered to the newest high-tech, cartooned covered, the absorbent gel material filled, and elastic legged disposables. There are some parents that find that their baby does perfectly find with disposable diapers while other parents find that their baby has some kind of reaction to them. The disposable diapers are more harmful to the environment than the cloth diapers. An average baby will use anywhere from 6-10 diapers per day, putting the average cost at

As ideas came to thought, she went into the kitchen and sat at her sewing machine with a shower curtain in her hand and went to work. It took her several attempts but she completed a waterproof diaper. At that time rubber diaper pants were used but they would pinch the…

On one hand Huggies are thicker and it may seem that they are a lot cheaper but if you do the math; They are the same in price per diaper. "Consumer Reports estimates parents will spend between $1,500 and $2,000 on disposable diapers before their child is potty trained" (www.bloggingstocks.com Battle of the Brands: Pampers vs. Huggies). In a advertisement by Huggies they have placed a huge Huggies diaper on a water tower ( Parents. Raise a self-reliant child March 2010 pg.91). By doing this, they are stressing their "leak lock technology" that Huggies diapers have over other brands. This portrays a serious issue to parents; No parent wants to have diapers that may leak, this is a great feature. In a Pampers advertisement they are expressing the use of their product when mother and child are still in the hospital after the child was born. They also stress the fact that the swaddler diaper for newborns are "the number one choice of hospitals" ( Parents. Help your child sleep better February 2010 pg.9). The Industrial Revolution, a time where many business practices, new innovations, and products had little to no regulation, and where technology was progressing quickly- many inventions that had been made with only the best intentions, had unforeseen effects. One such invention was the cotton gin, which had inadvertently caused a large spike in the demand for slaves, and had indirectly contributed to the start of the civil war. Another technology, the factory system saw a great increase in the…

By using reusable water bottles it can help the environment in many ways. Reusable water bottles save more energy than a plastic water bottle. Reusable water bottles such as stainless steel and aluminum save the amount of energy that we would use in a plastic water bottle. A plastic water bottle goes through a lot before it reaches our mouth; factories have to produce the bottle, bottle it, transport it, deliver it, and refrigerate it. On banthebottle.net Charles Fishman states that the energy we waste using bottled water would be enough to power 190,000 homes! Another way it helps the environment is because it helps lessen the oil pollution. Oil is used as energy for many types of machinery to produce and bottle the plastic water bottles. When factories make a plastic water bottle it requires a lot of energy or also known as oil. When we use a reusable water bottle we do use energy but we save energy compared to if we would buy a bottle every day. By buying reusable water bottles we get closer to saving the environment…

The Process of Changing a Newborns Diaper a You should not take lightly the changing of a diaper. For it to be done correctly, you need to take the time and do the proper steps. If not done so, your baby could end up with a diaper rash and more seriously, an infection. A clean diapered baby is a happy baby. To start, you need to know the weight of the newborn. With this, you will be able to find which size diapers will be appropriate. Not all newborns wear newborn diapers. You will also need to decide on which brand diaper you will want to use. There are several brands to choose. The name brands are nice because they absorb more and children are less likely to get rashes. Priced less and packaged in greater quantity are generic brands. However, they are less absorbent, which results in frequent changing and greater chance for diaper rash. You will also need a diaper wipes and powder. Again, there are name brand and generic. You will have to make the decision based on, which is better for you and your newborns needs. After you choose the size and brand you need to set up the area in which you will be changing the newborn. It should be soft yet washable. Sometimes things can get a little messy and you will want to be able to disinfect. Put all these supplies at easy access to you where you will be changing the newborn. Make sure supplies are at the foot of the changing area. This will keep little hands from reaching them. All the cellophane should be off the packages. Take the diapers out of the packaging and stack them at a hand's reach. You should not have to walk away as soon as you start changing the baby. You are ready to change. Start by placing the baby on the changing surface with its head at appropriate end. Undress the baby from waist down. There are tabs on the front of the diaper, lift up on the corners of them and the diaper will be unsecured. You need to check if the baby has had a bowel movement. To do this, just pull diaper carefully down between the…
