Climate Change has a great effect on how the world works. As the population of the world grows so does the technology used and the pollution given out by the modern world’s new tools and ways of life. People say they couldn’t live without some of this technology like cars and oil, but what if it would mean the whole planet will have to pay for it all in the future?
Before watching the documentary I knew that pollution was taking a huge toll on the planet’s climate. Oil spills, deforestation, garbage pollution, traffic ruining the air, over the years we’ve seen it all on the nightly news describing how we are destroying our world with all this unnecessary pollution. Just last year there was an awful oil spill in the USA that destroyed a lot of beach and wildlife in the surrounding area. People seem to easily forget all the bad in the world after it isn’t in the news anymore. The planet’s temperature is rising to the point where the polar ice caps are beginning to melt away. This is a big deal for all life there, because they will eventually lose their natural habitats and become extinct.
I never thought about how politically driven Global Warming is, scientists are getting paid a lot of money to write reports about the effects Global Warming is having on the world weather or not it is true or false. The common belief is that the rise of CO² is the cause of climate change but according to the movie, the CO² is actually fallowing the rise in temperature not causing it. By digging deep into the arctic ice, scientists have found that the temperature has been rising and falling for centuries. Scientists have found that in the medieval times there was a very big rise in the temperature called “The Medieval Warm Period”. Polar bears and other arctic animals (not to mention humans) all survived this period up to modern day, so why wouldn’t they this time around?
The “Little Ice Age” was a period of time that occurred after the medieval warm period when everything began to cool down. It was not a true ice age and the exact beginning of the cold weather is unknown but believed to have started around the 13th century and ended around the end of the 19th century. Sun spots on the sun are believed to be the cause of warmer weather; the more spots the warmer the weather. They are caused by intense magnetic activity on the sun’s surface.
In my opinion, climate change is a having major effects on the earth. You can notice this change when you go from being in a big city to the open country; the air quality is very different in the two places. All the pollution from humans in the world from the things that are supposed to make life easier seems to be making the world a harder place to live in. The pollution is going to kill off a lot of vital species and for some people in different countries it will mean food will be even harder to come by. I would like to know more about what we could do to help stop climate change from happening more and to help make a better eco friendly future for the world, but that would all depend on how much the present society wants the world to be cleaner and healthier to live in. No one can be truly sure of what will happen to the future climate but one thing’s for sure, if change doesn’t happen soon the world will become an unlivable environment and that will end the human species.

Everyone talks about climate change and how the Earth is slowly deteriorating, but no one seems to have specific examples. In Linnea Saukko’s “How to Poison the Earth,” she does use specific examples of what is causing climate change. She uses satire with a hint of sarcasm in her essay. She gives the reader specific examples of how to poison the Earth, but not really wanting to poison the Earth. Gretel Ehrlich writes her essay, “Chronicles of Ice,” a little differently. She uses personal experiences of visiting a glacier and the way that it is falling apart to explain climate change. She uses detailed, sensory description to explain what is happening to the glaciers that are so important to us. However, in Atul Gawande’s essay, “The Cancer Cluster Myth,” he uses a different approach. He uses the physical health of the people in our nation to draw the attention of the reader to the subject, however he does not get very specific with how exactly climate change is affecting us. Saukko’s essay had more of an initial impact when reading it. She did very well at explaining exactly what is causing climate change and how it affects us. On a personal level, Saukko hit the deepest. She made me realize what our Earth is actually going through and how not only as individuals, but as the world as a whole, we are slowly killing our earth.…

To put it in its simplest terms, climate change refers to the long term change in the earth’s temperature, particularly an increase in the average atmospheric temperature (Dictionary.com). Although there are some natural causes for climate change, most scientists are in agreement that humans are at least in part responsible for some of the effects we have already seen and must therefore take corrective action immediately to slow the process before it is too late and irreversible catastrophic damage has been done.…

As we know, global warming is becoming a global issue. It alarms the whole world to protect the destroyed environment. Global warming is a "natural phenomenon". In general, we know that the origin of global warming is the emission of carbon dioxide. It was verified that the relationship between carbon dioxide and temperature: when there is more carbon dioxide the temperature gets warmer. This topic should be discussed under current situation to advocate people concerning with this severe environmental issue. Meanwhile, people should consider how to reduce the emission of carbon dioxide and take some actions to stop global warming.…

Just as the world's most respected scientific bodies have confirmed that world is getting hotter, they have also stated that there is strong evidence that humans cause the warming indirectly. Each year, human activity causes billions of tones of greenhouse gases to be released into the atmosphere. As scientists have known for decades, these gases capture heat that would otherwise escape to space – the equivalent of wrapping the planet in an invisible blanket.…

Myrtle Beach is a beautiful place to live. The beach is the perfect place to visit during the hot summer days, aside from dealing with a lot of tourists that is. Never the less, Myrtle Beach is a place that many call home and many more will call home in the future. However, it has become apparent to most that the climate has been changing over the last few years, and even longer still. The summer seems to be hotter, rain seems to have increased, winters seem to be colder, etc. Sea levels are also rising from climate change. Climate change can be come from many things: changes in ocean circulation, volcanic eruptions, tectonics, and astronomical cycles. However, did you know that greenhouse gases also effect climate change? The increases to greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide, methane, water vapor, etc, increase the overall global temperature. The rises in greenhouse gases can be partly blamed on industrialization, pollution, and deforestation. The picture below shows the changes in the Earth's atmosphere from 1985 to 2005. Since the atmosphere is thinning, the Earth is not as protected from the Sun's rays as it once used to be, thus increasing the overall temperature of the Earth.…

Elizabeth Kolbert’s Field Notes from a Catastrophe was my first in-depth look into climate change, global warming, and the contribution of humans to these things. Global warming was something I vaguely knew about before reading this book, but it never really caught my attention or seemed like a major issue in the world. After reading Field Notes from a Catastrophe, I realized that it is in fact a major issue that must be addressed by every community. In this essay I will argue that it is our job as the human race to do all that we can to take care of our planet and reduce the amount of global warming that humans are responsible for. This essay is significant because this is our world. Global warming may not be something that has a significant impact on our lives, but whether it is our grandchildren or great grandchildren, there will be consequences eventually for the human race and the other species that we share this planet with.…

Over the past decade, human activity has started to cause an increased rate of negative change to our climate. Although climate change is a worldwide problem no one will feel the impact as harshly as third world countries such many parts of Africa, Asia, and South America. These countries are estimated to be hit the hardest by climate change even though they did the least to cause it. Developing countries have been struggling over the past few years on their own, and now with the effects of climate change increasing those countries are starting to run into serious problems. Every year, natural disasters result in 60,000 deaths, mainly in developing countries (World). These problems are only predicted to become worst over the next decade. These issues will undo some of their previous developmental progress and cripple their ability to further develop. Other issues include the loss of large amounts of cash crops, increase of disease spread, and rising water scarcity which will also cause an extreme decline in third world economies and future development. The changing climate on Earth will have a devastating impact on less developed countries because of a lack of food production, physical destruction and health problems, and damage to the economy.…

In the early 20th century, the population of the world is 1 billion people. Reaching the early 21st century, it became 7 billion people. The increasing number of people resulted in the increasing number of supplies, places to live, and energy. Everyone needs food. Everyone needs house. Everyone needs energy. And ironically what human needs to survive resulted in a fenomena that will bring danger to themselves. That fenomena is called the climate change. Simply saying, it is the change of Earth’s condition such as temperature, rainfall, wind, humidity and weather. And climate change could result in global warming which is the rising temperature of Earth’s surface. This fenomena began to be a global issue since The First World Climate Conference in 1979, which identified it as an urgent problem and encourage other countries to aniticipate it and find ways to overcome this issue.…
