CJS/ 250 Introduction to Security
Why is it important for security professional to know specifics about the particular target environment to which they are assigned? I believe that it is very important for security professionals to know all the specifics of their target environment, because they need to know what to do if something possibly goes wrong. They should know the ins and outs of their target environment and know where everything is from the cameras and gates to the light switches. Knowing your surroundings and your target environment will not only keep you safe but also be able to protect your environment a lot better.
How can experienced security professionals prepare themselves for challenges and opportunities they have never encounter before? I believe the one way that security professionals can prepare themselves for new challenges is to not only go through training but also to have a mock so to say training. One day or night, when the security professionals is unprepared and has no idea what’s going on do a mock training. For example have someone mock a break in and cut all ties to any cameras in the target environment. The security officer will not know what’s going on and will provide them with real life challenges that they might not have been prepared for, or ever dealt with. Is it possible that experience with only one type of environment can be a drawback for security professionals approaching a new environment? If so, how? I believe that only have experience from one type of environment is a really big drawback, but at the same time can be very useful. I believe that it would be a draw back because then the security professionals will not know how to deal or prepare themselves if they get placed somewhere else that is a completely different environment. At the same time it can be very useful because then this security professional will have so much experience in this type of environment that it would benefit to have him on...
