The best team that I have ever been associated with, was a team created at work called “The VA-CLC Nurses”. The team was created by a co-worker to run the 5k run in the honor of our fallen veterans. The results were very favorable considering the fact that we were able to recruit a lot of people to join and we all worked great together. The leader maximized the team’s strength by communicating to all of us on how to put our differences aside, and on how to come together for a greater cause than our own. She organized us into small groups depending on what duties needed to be done. Which included, uniform designers, transportation, also a person in each group to keep an eye out for our children on the team and a group to…
My team’s objectives were to raise the awareness of our charity, raise over £1000 and raise as much money as possible and to run successful events. We were given £100 to start our events and had to budget what we spent. We had to decide our individual roles before we started planning any of the events so we all knew what we had to do but this was a bit of a struggle as it was hard to define, in the early stages, who had what roles. However, our team was effective because we all helped each other with different tasks and then all began to found out our strengths and our weaknesses. We all listened to each other and try to make everyone in the team feel welcome and not make them feel left out. For example, When Sandie joined our group it was a while after the team was formed so she may have felt a bit left out but we all tried to make her feel welcome and she took on the role of being in charge of all the health and safety and risk assessments for the event.…
All team members have a duty to this team. One is to make sure everyone is on the same track and understands what needs to be done. Everyone on the team needs to communicate with each other via email or phone. We should all meet at least one time during the week to go over everything we have and to make sure there is nothing else that needs to be done.…
A collaborative team is one in which team members’ work together to reach a predetermined goal. An effective collaborative team should schedule meetings on a regular basis. These meetings have five key elements. The elements of a collaborative team meeting are an agenda, roles of the team members, meeting content, team decisions, and note taking. Each of these elements is important to the success and collaboration of the team.…

There are always going to be challenges in teams but having a plan that will effectively address the challenges will help to mediate the severity of the challenges. If challenges are left alone and not addressed they can lead to team conflicts, misunderstandings, arguments, poor performance, project failures, resentment, and loss of motivation. As a team it is in its best interest to clearly set guidelines that will mitigate problems and reduce the risk of challenges the team may face. Before the team can set guidelines that address challenges that the majority of teams face the team must clearly define challenges that may lead to bigger problems within the team.…
Instant gratification... our society today knows little else. Every new generation breeds new problems with less patience, all in the name of progress. We have fast food, fast medical care, instant access to information, instant communication with anyone in the world, and so much more. Of course progress has its benefits and rewards, but at what cost? Are we capable of achieving this progress without sacrificing the values and beliefs our ancestors built their lives upon?…
Growing up in America provides children with the best possible environment. People in other parts of the world don’t have it nearly as well off as we have it here. Everyone is able to go to school; in fact it’s a law! Kids and teens in other countries would kill to be able to go to go to school at all. When we were kids in elementary school, we pretty much had zero worries about the world. The hardest question of the day was what color crayon to draw with. With a few exceptions, almost all of our decisions were made for us; what to eat, when to go to bed, when to wake up, where to go, and in my case, what to wear. None of us ever had a worry about the much larger world beyond our own little world where everything…
People seem to be losing their sense of community for fear of “getting involved.” A community is a safe quiet place where a bunch of families enjoy the company of each other. Some family could work in a cubical at an office and others could work at the post office, whatever their occupation is there is always peace and quiet in the neighborhood. Kids playing outside knowing each other like if they were family, backyard grill out and other events, but when something bad happens in the neighborhood they are even more quiet then it is on a Sunday night, one murder three attempts and no call for help.…

Being an individual on a team is like being part of a family. Whether you like your teammates or not, you should care about them. The nice feeling about being in a sports team is cooperation. There are always others by your side and everyone has each other’s back no matter what. You should work together, help each other, and learn from each other. More significantly, no one on the team says, “I won”, rather everyone says, “We won”. If everyone is moving forward together, then success of the team takes care of itself. The team offers the (“potential to synergize your and other people’s individual efforts into a new whole that is greater than their sum.” Intercompany sports leagues provide an enjoyable and lighthearted way for groups to become teams.) 1…
My father was born in Zamboanga City from an ordinary family. My grandfather earns his keeps as a musician and usually plays with a band during town fiestas and social gathering. My father loves music and learned to play the piano in the nearby church where an American missionary taught him. After the war, he moved out of Zamboanga City and went to Manila as a working student. He didn’t finish his college because he needs to work full time in order to send money back to his family in ZC. He worked as a social worker in Samar then was transferred to San Ildefonso, Bulacan where he met my mother-to-be, helping street kids find their way back to the folds of the society. He used to tell a story about how he was able to save homeless children and keep them away from hunger and involvement in petty crimes. Many years later, I remember one Sunday morning when a family came to visit our ancestral house in Valenzuela City. While waiting for my father to come down from the second floor, the man was narrating to us how my father took cared of him when he was a wayward street kid back then. He is so grateful because he is now married with a stable job and blessed with a happy family. According to him, if not for my father he could have been the bum in the street doing crazy things. And I was happy to hear that. Now I know where I got my ‘genes’ to help others. Probably it is a system that I inherited from my father. On the other hand, my mother reared me close to the church. We all studied in a school run by Augustinian Sisters. Even though we were a struggling family back then, my parents tried their best to give us the best education that they can afford. We were in a private school. I remember that we were always last to take the exams because we are always delayed in payment of dues,. My mother will be in the accounting office has to sign a promissory note so that we can to…
