city u im admission essay
My name is Jon Leung, an AD student from PolyU-HKCC. For opening up the next brilliant stage of my study life, I am now applying for Bachelor of Business Administration—Information Management degree program from the City University of Hong Kong. Over the years, CityU has demonstrated herself as one of the most reputable universities in Hong Kong, and surely my excellent education background and rich life experience closely parallel the quality of whom you are looking for. For the time at PolyU HKCC, my interest and knowledge in the business field have been risen up. Besides excelling the foundation courses in Accounting, Information Technology and Management, which have together equipped me with solid fundamental understanding to the dynamic business world, several research projects have promoted my leadership, coordination and interpersonal skill. In the course CCN 1003, I together with four of my teammates had finished a written report on the topic “Upgrade the Information system for integrated furniture store”, and received a positive grade and comment based on the comprehensive research and appropriate application internet technology tools to improve the existing situation. As a matter of fact, I am the intrinsically motivated to study Business subjects in this year. For this reason, I got HKCC Outstanding Student Award Scholarship 2013 for the 2012-13 academic year. Setting my academic achievement asides, in my 2-year college life, I participate actively and zealously in service team. For example, I am one of the student mentors. Working with 60 mentors, I took some organizing part in couple activities such as a welcome ceremony for more than three hundred mentees. It honestly gave me plenty of rooms to drill myself on the communication and coordination skills. In the other end, I also made use of last summer vacation to work as intern in Habourfront All-suite hotel. Working in a service industry, I had to face and communicate with different guests and staffs. Through practices, I was trained to be a confident one who can respond to problems independently and effectively. Apart from organizing activities, I am glad to join the 41st HATA Oversea Convention in Sabah, Malaysia as a delegate. Not only taking up the latest news in the tourism industry – Travel agent in term of needs and wants in the convention, I also got the chances to communicate with other delegates and the hosts. This experience truly widened my horizon of a professional oversea convention.
Over the years, the College of Business in CityU offers a both distinctive and professional bachelor degree program to equip the young elites in the field. For this, it’s certainly my honor if I could be shortlisted or arranged any interview for better understanding of me in the future. Finally, I hope this brief description of my qualification could indicate my genuine desire to be a student in CityU.

My parents, like countless immigrants, relocated my family of five in pursuit of the highly sought after “American Dream.” The excitement quickly wore off once I was confronted with the realization that we will now be residing in a one bedroom, one bathroom basement apartment in Brooklyn, New York. While my parents attempted to provide for my brothers and me, I undertook the task of mastering the English language. In contrast to my classmates, my learning recommenced after school; I spent countless hours reviewing index cards struggling to obtain a grasp of the English language. For added support I attended an English as a second language class, where I received one on one attention. The alienation from the classmates that surpassed me with ease triggered feelings of inadequacy; this only fueled my determination to succeed.…

The moment I began the first draft of the essay that would be the grounds for a major life transformation, I had just concluded a vehement, impassioned debate with my Student Senate president regarding our Student Constitution. So as I stare at this empty page, ready to convey that ILR is where I want to make my home in the coming years, my mind is crowded with thoughts of the bylaws of Article IV, the elements the president brought up, and how I might have been wrong. Yet my inability to restrain my enthusiasm for this piece of legislation is precisely why I fit at ILR. I will be free to continue my ardent deliberation of student legislation as a transfer class representative in the Student Government Association, and I will declare a minor…
