H| R E F E R E N C E| ISAIAH| * The name Isaiah means "the salvation of the Lord" or "the Lord is salvation." * first book containing the writings of the prophets of the Bible. the author, Isaiah, who is called the Prince of Prophets, shines above all the other writers and prophets of Scripture.  * the earliest and most sublime of the four greater Hebrew prophets, was the son of Amoz (2 Kings xix, 2-20; Isaiah xxxvii, 2), and he uttered his oracles during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah. * Isaiah was God's spokesman to Judah and Jerusalem at time when thenation was immersed in sin.| * isaiah is the fullest revelation of Christ in the Old Testament -- so much so, that it is often called "the gospel according to Isaiah."
