H| R E F E R E N C E| ISAIAH| * The name Isaiah means "the salvation of the Lord" or "the Lord is salvation." * first book containing the writings of the prophets of the Bible. the author, Isaiah, who is called the Prince of Prophets, shines above all the other writers and prophets of Scripture.  * the earliest and most sublime of the four greater Hebrew prophets, was the son of Amoz (2 Kings xix, 2-20; Isaiah xxxvii, 2), and he uttered his oracles during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah. * Isaiah was God's spokesman to Judah and Jerusalem at time when thenation was immersed in sin.| * isaiah is the fullest revelation of Christ in the Old Testament -- so much so, that it is often called "the gospel according to Isaiah." To acquaint yourself with these magnificent, prophetic passages looking forward to Christ is to experience much of the richness and depth of Scripture *  the prophetic nature of the book of Isaiah is one of the great proofs that the Bible is the word of God, for Isaiah lived some 724 years before Christ.| * *| JEREMIAH| *  was born in a priestly family, in the town of Anatoth belonging to the Tribe of Benjamin. *  was still a young man when the spirit of prophecy came upon him. He was fearful to accept such a responsibility, declaring, "I am still a boy!" But G-dsaid to him, "Say not, 'I am a boy,' for you shall go to all that I shall send you, and whatever I command you you shall speak.| * Just as God called Jeremiah to fulfill a mission to Israel, so He calls every believer to fulfill a mission.  In spite of this call from God, Jeremiah was reluctant to accept this summons because of his age: “Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth” (1:6).  | *...
