Oprah Winfrey - A Role Model of Today
Many years ago I was graced with the presence of one of American’s soon to be most influential television personalities, Oprah Winfrey. Oprah Winfrey was becoming an American icon to me and too many issues stricken American’s. Oprah Winfrey was known for coming from a Baptist hometown where her father and grandmother taught her Christian morals and values. Oprah soon became a multibillionaire because of her topics on self-help issues and her unique way to influence viewers. She showcased that she used her God given abilities to impact a nation, or rather a world to think beyond their current circumstances. She stayed away from messy topics and chose to deal with the inward man. I applauded her for that and vowed to support her endeavors because of what I believed to be ‘her strong Christian’s roots.’ I guess you can say I assumed her spiritual worldview was the reason for her ongoing success. She took what was taught in her youth and as she succeeds in her own career, in returned showed charity and kindness to others. As the years went on I soon found out that she didn’t believe in the Christian faith, however she endorsed the New Age movement. It has been reported that she follows an Utarian Universalist religion. This is when believers in nurturing their spirit man and showing their goodness by performing good deeds in the needed world. I first became aware of this new found faith when I witnessed her thoughts on the Oprah Winfrey show. Ms. Winfrey argued the point that Christianity isn’t the only way to achieve our purposes her on earth or the only way to heaven. I knew then that her faith in God’s was distorted. Christians know and understand that there is only one way. I understand now that this line of thinking was on the order of the New Age Movement. It sounds as if she was a border line believer of Pantheism. Ms. Winfrey...
