Defining the Life of a Christian
Many people have different views about the Christian faith, and it may have a different meaning to each person. But the meaning is as simple as this, love others and show the love of Christ to them. The Bible lays an outline for the Christian to live by, and they are the fruits of the spirit. These fruits are difficult for each Christian to reach, because Christ is their example. Christ being perfect and not yielding to any temptation that the world threw at him. Christians on the other hand are tempted on a daily basis, just as Christ was, but yield to the temptation. The paradox life of a Christian is hard, but they look unto Jesus the author and the finisher of their faith. It is difficult for one to explain the Christian life to a non-believer because they do not want to live for Christ, but would rather live for their own selfish desires. Some non-believers might not want to yield to the Christian faith because of a “bad” Christian example. That Christian was not living the fruits of the spirit; the definition of the Christian life is as simple as those four words- fruits of the spirit.

The world may see a Christian as arrogant, self-centered, or controlling. These so called Christians are not living to the right example of what a Christian really is; a Christian should be lowly, self-sacrificing, and they will acknowledge above all things that God is in control, no matter what the circumstances may be. This is a Christian that the world should be seeing, but the “wrong” type of Christian tends to stick in their minds. If this “wrong” Christian were living the true Christian life, the fruits of the sprit, than the world would know more about the “right” type of Christian. A Christian should strive to be the best example of Christ, so that a world of hopelessness and despair may see the eternal light of Christ the Savior. After all He did die on the cross for all of the worlds sin and wickedness. The least that a Christian could do would be to give their life fully to Him, and let His light shine through them.

This right type of Christian will be a servant to others whether they are Christians or not. Being a servant will show others a picture of Christ, because he would always be a servant to His disciples by washing their feet. Christians today should not literally wash another persons feet, but rather help them with tasks that might be overwhelming to them without the help of another. As churches of today like to call these Christians “feet washers”. This action shows the person love and compassion just as Christ had love and compassion over the people of His day. Not only do are the “right” Christians Christ like, a servant, and loving and compassionate; they should be living the fruits of the Spirit daily.

The fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, longsuffering, and temperance they are found in the book of Galatians at chapter 5 verses 22 and 23. In the King James Version of the Bible it says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” These simple words may have different meanings for those who are unfamiliar with the Biblical doctrine. These fruits of the Spirit take meditation in the Word of God. These fruits are not simply gained, but a Christian has to work for them by putting away the “old” man, the flesh, and put on the “new” man, the good Godly things. It is a blessing for a Christian to obtain these fruits, because in their Christian walk they will be able to come closer to God. These fruits have different Biblical definitions, and step-by-step one can take and glean different knowledge from each of these fruits. They may need to work on one area of their life than that of another part of their life. Before beginning to look at the meaning and “meat” of these fruits one must understand that the Bibles...
