Many researchers have taken time to learn more about how factors in an infant’s life can affect the way they develop and how it can affect their school years and adulthood. The vast majority of our development occurs in the first years of life, so what happens to us as an infant can be an indicator as to what kind of person we will become later on in life. If one experienced infancy being nurtured by loving caregivers who met their needs, researchers can predict that he or she would turn out to be a so-called normal adult who would face less issues concerning mental health.…
Every child deserves the right to feel safe and trust the world they are living in According to the psychosocial theorist, Erik Erikson, as stated by Jacobs, Ph.D in “Will I ever see you Again?”. Erickson’s theory is made up of eight stages of psychosocial development; trust vs. mistrust, being the first of those stages. It is during this stage that infants make a judgement on their caregivers, based on basic needs and how they are met. In the “Understanding Children”by Sutherland, Monson and Hill Arbuthnot, it is noted that the major influence in a child’s life is the interaction between children and adults who care for them. At each of these stages the child may face conflict which must be resolved before the next stage is reached in…

The early years are a period of opportunity to establish a solid neural foundation for later development. The early years are also a period of increased risk that can compromise a child’s development for life. Children’s ability to develop secure relationships and their general resilience all depend on the early year care they receive from parents, pre-school teachers. Children living in poverty, disadvantaged families and communities, are at higher risk of negative outcomes during this…

Another important benefit is learning skills. In daycare, the child tries to learn more and faster because he or she will watch other children doing the same. It always will be a competition between children who will draw the picture better, who will solve the teacher’s task faster, or who will answer the question right. The child tries to do everything better and faster. In contrast, at home parents cannot force their child to study or just cannot teach well. They do not have enough patience or do not have time to do that. Sometimes, they even do not know how to explain things in the best way, so a child can understand it. Usually, parents do not have enough experience in early childhood education, so they try to teach as they can, not as it should be.…
Which is troubling because of the important role human connect has at this early stage of development. Erik Erikson states that an infant is in the stage Trust vs Mistrust. Trust vs Mistrust is an important stage in life, failure during this stage can hinder social development. It can do so because during this stage, an infant is in care of their care giver and is learning whether or not they can trust individuals. It is important for an infant to learn how to trust their primary caregiver, because without that trust it may cause an infant to have attachment disorders (Crosson-Tower,…
There has been research that has found positive effects of day-care on children’s social and cognitive development and suggests that perhaps child-care centers encourage more social interaction than the environment of a home-reared child. There may be more stimulation in day-care and more communication and sharing to be learned, therefore enhancing these abilities of the children who attend them (Peisner-Feinberg et al. 2001). Evidence shows that a good preschool education is beneficial to young children. Children who attend preschool have a head start when they begin elementary school having learned basic concepts in a preschool center. Some of the negative effects a child may experience while attending a child care center include high child to adult ratios, insufficient materials and equipment, staff with inadequate training and experience, and caregiver burnout. There are truly some wonderful and caregivers and daycares out there. Choosing the best one is a very…
* Research- Because of on-going research into the impact of early years education and services, we now know more than ever before about how children’s experiences in the early years can impact on their future outcomes. We now understand that good-quality care and education in the early years has a positive effect on children throughout their whole lives, particularly within areas of learning and development.…
