Abstract
“Geographically, China was and is still an isolated civilization…..throughout much of history China has been somewhat “mysterious” and fascinating to the outside world.” (Wright, 2001, p. 1).   Wright sums up how I have always thought of China: mysterious, unique, and vast in its population and size with a history covering thousands of years with many periods and dynasties.   I chose this Country for my paper for this reason, as well as, having friends who have lived there for many years and have found out some very interesting little facts about the culture.   I recall a phrase I often heard as a child, “if you keep digging, maybe you can make it to China,” or something of that nature, and I was intrigued ever since.   Given its immense history as stated above, this paper will cover only the highlights, giving an overview, without attempting to cover in detail all of the periods and dynasties, and will focus more on the relationship between our countries, its traditions, religions and overall culture.
