In this section, you will start by talking about the case study. You will describe how these children’s lives are supposed to be, for example, how they are supposed to have the best start in life and using some legislation to back up this description.
You will state that these two are children and define who a child is according to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the child (UNCRC 1989), Article 1 defines a 'child' as a person below the age of 18, unless the laws of a particular country set the legal age for adulthood younger. Also use the children’s act definition of a child.
Do not forget to talk about parental responsibility according to the Children’s Act (1989) S3 (1).There is also Article 8 of The Human Rights Act (1998).
Moving on to looking at the duty of a local authority social worker especially in the Children’s Act 1989 S (17) (1).Always relate everything to the case study.
It is worth noting that what is major in this case study is that it is all bout assessment of the children with regards to the various aspect of the law that affect them.

It is also important to find out if a common assessment already exists. However, in the Local authorities, there should be a system for logging these assessments as it will enable me to know if one already exists. If it does have one, it would be necessary to join with the other practitioners to work together and continue with the case. If one does not exist, I will discuss with my manager doing a common assessment framework pre-assessment checklist with the children and/or their parents. This short form encourages one to look at all five every child matters outcome area which are according to HM Government (2006a) are whether the child is healthy, safe from harm, learning and developing, having a positive impact on others and is free from the negative impact of poverty.
