Child care is “care for children provided by either the government, an organization or a person, while parents are at work or are absent for another reason (Childcare, 2010). Center based childcare is better than an in-home childcare because children can receive safe and proper care, structure and quality education for the child and from the provider as well as a reliable source of care. Choosing childcare isn’t an easy task. There are many considerations to be made when choosing childcare. Center based childcare is an appropriate and more reliable avenue for children.

Center based childcare offer structure and tends to follow a schedule. Consistency is important. In-home childcare typically doesn’t offer the same structure or schedule.
In-home childcare tends to follow a free and laid back schedule if any schedule at all. A typical schedule could include arrival and departure times as well as snack times with play in-between. A sounder schedule is had at center based childcare facilities. Providers may not have the funds to provide the same type of equipment, activities, and learning experiences as a center based facility. Having a background in child development is required in center based childcare facilities.
Center based childcare staff usually have to be educated with at least two years of college. They also have to have a background in child development. First aid training and knowledge of CPR are required. Having a knowledgeable and informative person teach our children is a must. In –home childcare providers do not have to have such training and experience.
