I did not design the lunch menu for my center; however, I serve it to my children on a daily basis. We use the CRMC food service, which has many benefits. One positive aspect is that there is no extra cost to the center, and enough food is delivered daily so that each child is served the appropriate proportions. My center works with the hospital to create a “short cycle menu,” a menu that is different everyday and repeats itself after a certain number of days, specifically a one-week cycle menu that is chosen by our director with faculty input. This cycle menu shows strengths because the children seem to enjoy a shorter cycle of fewer foods, and our director is able to control the menu to ensure that quality foods are served. The food served each day includes the food groups required for a balanced diet with whole milk. None of the meals contain potential choking hazards and all food is cut with food scissors for my age group. Each month, our center updates our allergy alert sheet, which is posted in every classroom. The staff complies to each child’s needs everyday at lunch and snack. I would not change my centers lunch menu because it promotes a healthy diet, meets their nutritional needs, and the children like it.…

I am competent in the area of physical activity. My goal is to get every child moving every day. To accomplish my goal I observe each child’s physical capabilities and limitations. I create a purposeful physical activity that is fun and challenging to develop fine and gross motor skills. Physical development is important to a child’s cognitive development. I put a fine and gross motor activity in every monthly newsletter to parents to create awareness. I use music and dance to allow children to experience cultural diversity. I use cultural songs, dances, and finger plays.…

Three professional skills you need when working with children are organisation because you need to be able to plan what lesson or activities you are going to do and make sure no one is using the equipment you are going to need, you also need to make sure you plan your time well so that your lesson finish on time and by the end of the day. You need to organise you’re resources so that you know where everything is and it is easy to find so you can get it straight away instead of having to look for it and waste lesson time. You need to be organised so that you can plan what to do for the day for example you have decided to do some painting with the class for the first lesson so before the children come to school get the paint and paper ready so as soon as you have marked the register you can start, a consequence of poor organisation would be that if the teacher didn’t know what they was going to do and then decided to paint they would start late and then the lesson would end latter and if someone wanted the paints after the lesson they would have to start late as well. Teamwork is when a group of people work together in a team to support one another, be patient and listen to everything everyone has to say, make sure everyone says their opinion because there need to be lots of communication. You also need to be honest if you don’t think that something a good idea you should say, try and find out everyone’s strength and area which need to be developed. If you work as a team you know you can ask for help and you haven’t got to do all the work by yourself you can share the responsibilities. If you don’t work in a team, you will find thing harder and you’ll do everything alone. In an early years practitioner the people that make up a team would be the manager, the deputy manager, teachers, teaching assistants and trainees/ students. Behaviour is very important as children role model you if they see you behaviour in a bad way or see you speaking in a bad way and they may…
