Professor,
I do believe that you accurately identified the claims, you state: “They are said to suffer from migraines, blisters, flesh-eating bacteria, hair loss and even below-the-knee amputation.” After watching the video (link provided by you) it did state every claim made accurately. You had no person observations you stated that this news report was the only information that you had on this case. To me you neither agreed or had conflict due to limited information provided from the news source. My personal observation of this is that more investigation needs to be conducted to confirm that the families affected are in fact consuming contaminated water. You also stated that there was no background information; I must agree with you, the news report was very vague and not very informative. Our analyses of this story are the same.
I think that my you made an accurate judgment, I watch HLN with Jane Velez Mitchell and Nancy Grace, I think that both hosts have their own opinions about everything and they report the news as they see it, not as it should be told. It has gotten to the point that I do not watch them as my main source of informative news more for the entertainment value, they never let the expert’s speak there is a lot of yelling and to me it is not real news reporting.
The concepts that I used were my analytical skills and found the good and the not so good in my classmates response to the video. I was constructive and noncritical I believe that I got my point across without being rude and sensitive to the subject matter.
Thank you,
Victoria
