The Many Characteristics of God
We learn numerous of characteristic and facts about God through special and general revelation. A few distinct characteristics of God include: He is monotheist, He created the universe, He is three in one person, He sent His son Jesus Christ to die for our sins, Jesus Christ rose again in three days, He has an interest in our life, and we find our salvation through Him. God is our perfect role model; we should strive to live our life by His perfect example. God certainly has an abundance of extraordinary characteristics, but the seven attributes that I personally chose to describe Him as include: loving, merciful, powerful, holy, forgiveness, patience, and all knowing. Love is the most important of Gods countless characteristics; He loves all of His creation unconditionally. The dictionary describes love as a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person (dictionary.com.) John wrote, “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love,” this verse comes from 1 John 4:8 which proves God is love and He loves all of His children. Also John 3:16 clearly demonstrates how unconditionally God’s love for us because He sacrificed His only Son which is the ultimate sacrifice, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Another great example of God’s love for us is “For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth” Proverbs 3:12 meaning He love us so much that He will correct us and lead us in the right path. We do not deserve God’s unconditionally love but He loves us anyway and wants a personal relationship with every one of His children. One of God’s amazing attribute is His mercy towards us.
