Assignment: Characteristics of Expository Essay

Address the following points about the two essays you read: The two essays that I choose were Cochlear Implants and Fishing Florida.
What characteristics make these essays expository? They both use evidence, the cochlear implants to me mostly uses comparison-contrast, it’s explaining the different types of implants and how cochlear implants stimulates the nerve, as the implantable hearing aids are regular hearing aids. There is also a characteristic of study and how the cochlear hearing aid is better than the implantable hearing aid, so there is cause and effect in the essay, but there is also an opinion of a story that happened to a gentleman who had a disaster in his house.
Fishing in Florida is a very detailed essay the author uses evidence and the proper way on cleaning a fish, He uses cause and effect by explaining the proper way on cleaning a fish, how to cut the fish and how to cook the fish, he shows step by step instruction in a detailed matter.
Identify the type of organization each author used to develop the essay: topic, time, order, space order, or informative process. In Cochlear Implants he uses the topic which is the kind of implant for hearing, and I also think he uses an informative way, because he explains how they work along with a detailed story behind the implant of one’s experience.
In Fishing Florida the author uses the topic on the fish, the time and steps that it takes to cut the fish in order, he uses the step by step process with a good description detail.
Why do you think each author choice make the essay effective? Fishing in Florida is very effective, if I didn’t know what I was doing when I went fishing and how to clean the fish and cook the fish I would be lost. The author has a very effective essay explain in details about the fish.
If I needed a hearing implant, I think I would do a little more research on what kind of implant I should get. To me... [continues]
