Figure 1: Changes to communication tools over the years

Timeline of technology-Communication
There were many changes since the 3000 BC, when humans were still using papyrus as a piece of paper and using drawings to illustrate what they meant. You see, now we are already using emails or social networking sites to communicate with friends or teachers. During the 2400 BCs when they still used the postal services they need to wait for a couple of days depending on the effectiveness of the service. Now, a message could be delivered in just seconds, using emails or the widely popular Whatsapp to deliver the message across to anybody in the whole wide world who is internet enabled (3G enabled or Wi-Fi enabled). All these changes have affected our lives and the society greatly. If one day you need to call an ambulance to your house because you granny had a heart attack, imagine we still have to wait for very long (30 minutes? 1 hour?) for it to arrive. Won’t your granny be dead by then?

Now, people are able to do many things through the Internet in just one window and with a simple click. For instance, many people are paying their bills on line. Instead of having to go to the local business office and having human contact, now they pay through the Internet. Another good example is education. Many people aren't able to attend a normal school schedule because of their indisposition of time; therefore, online education is an excellent way to stay in school. Now people can create their own schedule and learn from their computer to continue their desire of education. Messages are also a good example in how people communicate these days. Currently, e-mail is a very fast way that people use to have contact with their family or friends by just clicking "send" and being answered in less than a minute. Most people prefer to use e-mail instead of sending a letter by posted mail because they would have to put the message in an envelope, buy a stamp, take it to the post office and wait more than one minute to be received. However, the people that use often the Internet know that the Internet is currently taking away human contact because of its convenience. People forget that it is important to keep human contact because society needs each other to fulfill their needs, for example its smell, its touch, feelings, sight, and many other…

This quote relates to it, as it says, “In the past people used technology as a tool for making survival an easier endeavor. Nowadays we are witnessing a shift in the role technology is playing in our society and may continue to play for generations to come. In the modern-day world technology is no longer a tool for survival but it turned to a means of communication and entertainment. Mass communication technology has made it easier than ever to connect with people. At the same time this raises the concern of whether technology has a good or bad influence on our society, is the use of technology destroying face-to-face interaction and communication between people?”. Technology is used a lot more than necessary and time is going by a lot faster because of all the time spent on…

Did you ever watched the movie Wall-E by DreamWorks? Because if you did, you will notice how technologies have destroyed our earth and how technologies have turned us into fat, stupid and slow creatures. Moreover, did you ever notice how people act in trains in China? When one stands in the middle of the crowd, what he can only sees when he raise his head is everyone looking at their phones. With the new technology how we communicate has been affected the most I feel. Before modern technology you communicated using pen and paper and were delivered by horseback, then the telegraph came along and it sped everything up. Alison Gopnik explained this in her article “Diagnosing the Digital Revolution” when she said, “Information had always traveled at the speed of a fast horse; suddenly it traveled at the speed of electricity, from 10 miles an hour to millions”. The telegraph, although it was a great technological innovation seems prehistoric compared to how society is able to communicate nowadays. With this new emergence in computer technology communication has become mobile, with the innovation of the cell phone.…

With our technoly today, you would never think of how it got to this point. We all know that it had to start somewhere but who would have thought, Borge’s of all people would think of it, and cite it in his story “the Aleph.” Often, wonder what would the world be like if we didn’t have half of the technology that we do today. Would the world be a better place, kids would probably have more of a relationship with parents and friends. Instead we just text to ask questions, or even have a conversation with them. It simply amazes me at how far along our society has came with our phones, computers, satalites and the games. Our phones do just as much as a laptop it has infinite answers, stories and can do just about anything that we can at a computer just not sitting down at a desk to find…
