Change Initiative
In Unit 3 I identified a daily problem that affects the Turner Broadcasting Systems internal processes and a part of the flow of business, is the arrival of program media from the distributor. This issue with the distributor late delivery is indicative of an essential part of the system, not being able to function alone, but is vital to the other parts of the organizations actions and the behaviors of its constituents Ackoff, R. (1999). This issue led to a trickle-down effect in several different departments after its late arrival. The initiative that I would like to have implemented to minimize late media deliveries by the Distributors, is a rule added into the legal contract that incurs a financial penalty on all distribution companies that deliver media less than 5 days before it is due to air. We can educated and inform our supplier how much time and money is being wasted every time media comes in late. If we as an organization begin to push back on the distributor they will filter that same urgency and pressure up to the Executive Producers of a show. The responsibility and time wasted in trying to push media through leads to poor QC, more running around for the inventory management team, and a trickle-down of urgency execution for all departments that need to touch that media asset.
The positive and negative stakeholders that would influence the decision to enforce a penalty on the Distributor for late delivery of media are both internal and external.
Beginning with internal stakeholders of Turner Broadcasting Inc., a Time Warner publicly traded company, are the constituents of over 92,000; which are the main support of the media conglomerate. Secondly they have investors, requiring a certain rate of return from on their investment. If management is not doing what investors feel is in

Peel District School Board (PDSB) is one of Ontario’s many school districts. It serves the educational needs of three municipalities, namely, Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon by providing Kindergarten to Grade 12 education to all students of school going age who live in the school district. According to a 2011 census data, the Region of Peel is home to about 1.3 million people (Region of Peel, n.d.). In terms of its populations served, PDSB serves a widely diverse population that keeps growing exponentially. For example, according to the above referenced census data, between 2006 and 2011, Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon grew at the rate of 20.8%, 55% and 4.2% respectively. According to the census ' comparative analysis, Brampton is the second most densely populated city in Ontario. Further to the above, the 2011 census data state that, “The top home languages in Peel are Punjabi in Brampton, Urdu in Mississauga and Italian in Caledon” while “Of the 124,100 people who speak only Punjabi at home in Ontario, 86,185 (69%) live in Peel.” This is a snapshot of the demographics served by the PDSB.…

Stakeholders are individuals and constituencies that contribute, either voluntarily or involuntarily, to its wealth-creating capacity and activities, and who are therefore its potential beneficiaries and/or risk bearers1. There are several different types of stakeholders associated with a corporation, and those stakeholders can have different views and opinions on what corporation 's goals should be and how they should be running. I have interviewed three different stakeholders of Staples Inc., an employee, a customer and a stock holder, to find their relationship between them and the firm. Then, I will use this information to suggest how the firm should proceed and continue to have a better and more beneficial relationship with its stakeholders.…

    Stakeholders: Large Firms

Unlike shareholders who are solely interested in return dividends and share price growth, stakeholders have wide variety of interests in how companies operate. Freeman (1984) stated that stakeholders are, “any group or individual who can affect or is affected by the achievement of the organization’s objectives”. The main objective for firms is profit maximization and for this reason I agree to a certain extent that large corporations abuse their power against stakeholders.…

The concept of the corporation reaches back to Roman times. However, the modern business corporation evolved radically from its ancient roots into a form with little relation to the purpose as understood by historians of law. Today, the typical business corporation seems to be a disjointed entity whereby shareholders seek maximum income, labor unions seek maximum income, and managers vie for maximum salaries and bonuses. The needs of society in general seem to be ignored in this dynamic. Indeed, the formula appears to point in a direction that can only lead to trouble for those outside the three…

Unless we live as a hermit, we are unable to escape the influence of others ‘decision (Clawson, 2012). Those decisions, negative or positive, affect every entity in a business. Most businesses have entities that are affected by the day to day operations of that business. These entities are known as stakeholders. We group these stakeholders based on their interest. They’re grouped in categories such as employees, shareholders, customers, suppliers, and the community. The more commonly known stakeholder groups in business are employees, suppliers, shareholders, and customers. These groups are concerned with the decisions that affect the dividends that they receive in their share of profits. They all play a key role in protecting their interest and investment.…
