Writing a college essay is a very challenging assignment.   There are many steps that must be followed to ensure a well written paper.   The main challenge is not to get frustrated with your paper.   It will take a lot of patience, research, and dedication to complete an essay.   My personal fear is putting the paper together in a way that it makes sense to the reader.   Since this is a persuasive essay, putting it all together so you get your point across and convince someone on your position is a challenge all in itself.   A good thesis statement is key as this sets the tone.   Outlining the paper is also key as this lays the groundwork for the paper itself.   Coming up with a convincing conclusion is the final fear that I face.   I want the reader to grasp my point of view and maybe change their own view according to what I have written.   There is no time for procrastination on this assignment, much preparation is needed to persuade the reader to your way of thinking.

The ways you can overcome these challenging is to prepare in advance.   Research is key to any essay and much research must be done to persuade your readers.   Without knowledge on a topic you cannot identify key points that will sway your readers view.   If you have no idea what you are talking about it will show in your writing. Nobody wants to read a paper if it makes no sense and does not draw a conclusion based on facts gathered about the topic.   When I do my outline I want various views on my topic so I can draw my own conclusions about the subject.   After much research this information needs to be layed out in a certain order to keep the paper flowing.   The tone of the paper also needs to be addressed.   You must be careful not to use a non academic tone.   This is a class assignment not a paper you are writing to your friend.   It must be professional in nature and convey a business-like tone.
