Cer on the Observations of Dry Ice
Demo write up: #1
The plastic tablet that gets placed into the water causes the water to spin like a tornado. Then when dry ice is added the water starts to spin and create smoke, the color of the water goes from dark green to light green. There is probably a chemical in the dry ice that is reacting with the universal indicator which is causing the substance to change colors. Hydrochloric acid changes the color of the mixture and makes it green to yellow but when you add more hydrochloric acid then the first time the color becomes darker and eventually turn purple. The hydrochloric acid reacts with the solution and makes the colors change, when you add more than a certain amount the color becomes darker.

When the tablet went into the water it made the water start spinning. The dry ice started steaming up because when dry ice and water react they start producing carbon dioxide gasses. Hydrochloric acid and dry ice mixed and the water started to change colors from yellow to light green to dark green to dark blue/purple. The dry ice started breaking into chunks and when more hydrochloric acid is added the dry ice disappeared into the solution.

The tablet has reaction with the water and starts bouncing around. The color of the water changes when hydrochloric acid is added because the indicator changes the range of the colors causing them to change like rainbow colors. The solution stops changing colors at dark blue after it has changed color a few times. The universal indicator probably mixed with all the extra things being added to the solution and made different colors. The dry ice was in the water and probably steamed away and disappeared.

My hypothesis is that, there is a current sent from the battery wires to the pencil and it reacts with the pencil lead when dipped in water causing a reaction which makes the color change and the currents react with the sodium sulfate causing a series of different colors to be made.
