MRPC – 39 DIRECTORY OF WHOLESALE AGRICULTURAL PRODUCE ASSEMBLING MARKETS IN INDIA
GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE (DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE & COOPERATION) DIRECTORATE OF MARKETING & INSPECTION BRANCH HEAD OFFICE NEW SECRETARIAT BUILDING NAGPUR
The Directorate of Marketing and Inspection had brought out three Directories of “Wholesale Agricultural Produce Assembling Markets in India” in the year 1963, 1992 and 2000. These Directories were found to be of immense use by the Government departments, research scholars, other markets functionaries and the farmers. The Directory on Agricultural Produce Markets facilitates and provides authentic and supportive information to farmers for competitive selling of their produce at optimal price. The dissemination of complete and accurate market information plays key role in improving both operational and pricing efficiency in the agricultural marketing system. Efforts have been made to incorporate the information on the newly established markets, their postal addresses, telephone and fax numbers, name of the nearest railway station with distance, infrastructural facilities available, and commodities transacted in the markets. The listing of markets has been compiled statewise and district-wise on the basis of information collected from the State Agricultural Marketing Departments / State Agricultural Marketing Boards through the Regional / Sub-offices of this Directorate located in various parts of the country. The co-operation extended by all the organizations / offices are thankfully acknowledged. The Directory has been compiled by S/Shri P.J.Chimalwar and C.M.Tabhane, Assistant Agricultural Marketing Advisers under the supervision of Dr.V.K.Verma, Dy.Agricultural Marekting Adviser and Shri H.P.Singh, Jt.Agricultural Marketing Adviser, Branch Head Office, Nagpur under the overall guidance of Dr.G.R.Bhatia, Addl.Agricultural Marketing Adviser.
