However watching TV is one of the major sociological issues of the century. TV has caused many effects on the physiology and psychology of people.
One of the physiological effects of watching TV in excessive amounts is eyestrain. Although there are guidelines for watching TV, however these do not prevent the eyes from getting tired if we constantly keep watching it.
Another adverse effect is obesity, which is thoroughly overlooked in people who like watching TV, and eating snacks everyday. The funny thing is that they actually have snacks for eating in front of the TV called “TV Dinners”. Since TV is without a doubt an extremely powerful machine, people can’t get away from it because it is so addictive.
Other than the physiological effects, TV also causes psychological effects. There are many psychological effects. The first result is being exposed to too much TV is more violence. After viewing these violent scenes on TV. People start contemplating violent actions as normal and they lose their responsiveness to their environment. Being aware of the suffering of other people causes people to become isolated. Hence, the personal communication among people declines. Being aware of the suffering of other people causes people to become isolated. Also, after coming home from work people plan to relax in front of the TV, and usually people prefer watching TV rather than talking to each other.
All in all, inventions are meant to be helpful for humans, if we know how to correctly benefit from them, however, television is not the case here.

Television can have negative impacts on people, especially kids. People learn new skills by observing, then utilizing it, such as when we were kids and learn to walk by seeing our family walking around or learning a new subject in school. Therefore, when watching television it may influence our fundamental social dispositions; no matter if it is good or bad. Almost ninety nice percent of households possess one television. Television is today’s source of news, stories, legends, and characters from previous centuries; the reason why it is so influential. However, only “0.7 percent is used for public service announcements and news”(Sex, violence, profanity...). The other 97.3 % consists of television shows with violence, crime, advertisements and mainstream blandness. Many studies and research has been done to demonstrate that heavy television viewing may lead to serious health consequences. Television is just another part of technology keeping us from viewing the world and living our lives as we should. Instead of coming out of our house and taking on any challenge the world might have for us, we easily give up to our laziness, which quickly makes us grab the bag of chips, the soda, and sit down. Even though I am one of the many people who just loves to have the remote by their side, I strongly believe that television is nothing but detrimental to our society.…

Apart from the physical effects, TV also causes psychological effects. The constant exposure to violence desensitizes people to the horrible and irreversible consequences of violence. After frequently seeing violent scenes on TV, people start perceiving violent actions as normal, and short-lived or temporary. They lose their sensitivity to the consequences of violent acts. They don’t realize that violence causes human suffering and destruction and that it doesn’t disappear instantly like it does with a channel or scene change.…

There are too many bad effects of television on kids and society. One of the major affects it has on kids is violence. One of the major running cartoons is the Simpsons and it is full of violence. Kids tend to act on those and they end up doing violent things. Next there is the issue of sight and that is affected by constant watching of television for hours and hours in a day. Watching television for extended periods of time has a bad effect on a person’s eyesight. Then you have the issue of a person’s health being affected by sitting in front of a television instead of movement that will keep them healthy. They could be exercising, playing outdoor games, and even going for a walk instead of sitting in front of the television. Another effect is on their learning by watching meaningless television shows that has no addition to their knowledge at all. An example of that are the sitcoms like Seinfeld which have nothing that is creative for a young kid to learn. It effects their social development because they have no connection with the reality and are kept away from it. With these factors I believe that the television is harmful for kids for their upbringing.…
