Prime Minister Lester Pearson made a wise and well thought threw decision to make health care publicly funded for all Canadians in 1968. Prime Minister Pearson made the right decision to make health care publicly funded because he thought of a plan that was simple, and easy to follow out, with no complications. Pearson also made the right decision, because he took into consideration the opinion of the people that this would be affecting before he made the decision. And finally, because of the events that took place prior to the health care change. Prime minister Lester Pearson

 The simple plan to make health care free at the time when it is needed, was a simple and well thought threw plan, in general, costs are paid for through funding from income taxes, the only exception in Canada is in British Columbia, which is the only province to have a fixed monthly premium that can be reduced for people in need that have low incomes. There are no deductibles for basic health care and co-pays are extremely low or non-existent . A health card is issued by the Provincial Ministry of Health to each individual who enrolls for the program and everyone receives the same level of care. This was a good way for Prime Minister Lester Pearson to ensure that everyone in Canada was getting the same quality of treatment no matter how much money they make, and their social status.

Prime Minister Pearson was very wise about his decision to make health care publicly funded. It was brought up many times throughout the nine months before it was finally passed, and everyone’s opinion was taken into consideration. The prime minister suggested a survey to be passed out to a large group of diverse Canadians. Prime minister pearson respected the doubts of some people, but over all the idea was well – liked. After thinking long and hard Prime minister Pearson carefully made a good move in making health care publicly funded.
