Case Study Analysis and Evaluation
“With the foundation and commitment of our spiritual heritage and values, our mission is to promote the health and well–being of the people in the communities we serve through a comprehensive continuum of services provided in collaboration with the partners who share the same vision and values.” The vagueness of this mission statement allows for a plethora of interpretations and may be used in a negative manner rather then what intended for. Being committed to the community does not necessarily mean giving away free services and products. Businesses strive on profits and increases in productivity, due to there interest in staying afloat in the industry they specialize in. The problems experienced in the Faith Community Hospital are primarily related to communication and an absence of proper leadership in place. Each individual at the hospital reads the statement, creates there mental image in there head of what it is supposed to represent and then integrates it into there regular routine. Are the subordinates wrong in deciding to give out free services or free medication? Yes, and no. Without a proper line of communication for employees to ask for help in deciphering there mission statement, he or she is unable to blame them for the practices for that they participate in. On the other hand, individuals should understand the business aspect of the hospital and recognize money concerns in relation to compensation, supplies, equipment and where it is coming from. If change cannot be made then jobs will be lost and the hospital may be closed. How would that effect the community?
Using a SWOT analysis in evaluating the problem will allow the Faith Community Hospital to isolate the predicament more easily and allow us to explore options to repair the issues. The strengths at the hospital are currently also considered to be weaknesses in the eyes of management. The considerate and selfless hearts of the subordinates continue to... [continues]
