According to Maslow's hierarchy, which basic needs did Shank's old boss fail to meet? Explain why the needs have not been met. What could be done to meet these missing needs? (25 points) According to Maslow’s hierarchy theory, Shank’s old boss fails to provide the Esteem needs. Flight 001 is small local company. It does not have a big name or prestige. It also does not have a very inspiring or famous history that can satisfy the esteem needs of employees. Neither has it had any prestigious projects or very prestigious offices in the country. Because of these reason the Shank’s old boss fails to meet the esteem needs. Expansion into bigger cities and stores at prestigious business centers or the offices at prestigious locations or association with some of the prestigious brands in the world may result into meeting the esteem needs. Shank’s old boss failed to meet the basic needs of belongingness, esteem and self-actualization. The need for belongingness was not met because her boss made her feel as if she was not needed and could easily be replaced which made her feel like she was not part of the team at work. The need for self –actualization was not met, she felt that she had no part in the decision making in regard to her work or chance to learn new things and she felt like she will not have a chance to develop and grow. She had a feeling of why should she work hard for them when they don’t know her or how hard she works for their company and if you are not feeling good about your job/career that definitely has an effect on your self-esteem. To meet these needs there are many actions that could be taken or characteristics that should exist. Here is an example: a job/career that motivates employees to get up in the morning looking forward to work, ensure the tasks, projects or roles she is involved with take advantage of her skills and talents.
