The strategy-shaping business and economic characteristics of the console segment of the video game industry mostly involves with the market size and growth, number of rivals, number of buyers, product innovation, and learning/experience curve effects. The industry is pretty much fast, meaning   that after they release their newest product, then all of the competitors are off to the race to debut the newest innovative product

  2. What is competition like in the video game system industry? Which of the five competitive forces is strongest? Which is Weakest? What competitive forces seem to have the greatest effect on the industry attractiveness and the potential profitability of new entrants?  

The competition in the video game system is between Nintendo, Xbox, and Playstation. But in some ways Nintendo doesn’t really try to compete with Playstation or Xbox. Nintendo understands what their demographic is and mainly focus on growing and reaching new target markets. I say Xbox and PS3 are out for each other for the number 1 spot in the video game Industry. The strongest of the five competitive forces will be the Rivalry among competing sellers. The weakest is potential new entrants.

The video game Industry is constantly changing because it now has to deal with entertainment as back in the day it was just a video game system.
