Describe two business sectors you might want to work in if you were an accountant and why?
Two business sectors that I might want to work in if I were an accountant would be the IRS and Government Accounting. I think the IRS would be very interesting and I would be curious on how they examine tax payer’s returns, confirm and collect taxes, enforce tax laws and preparing and analyzing revenue reports. I always said that if for some reason I become an accountant or anything dealing with money I would actually like to work with the IRS. I chose Government Accounting because even though they don’t make as much money as the private firms do, they have great job security and benefits. Being a military accountant could a good job for me without reenlisting in the military but still having that military way of life. I knew civilian people that were military accountants and they said that it is one of those jobs that are challenging but rewarding at the same time.

Research a specific company in one of the business sectors that interests you and describe how you imagine it might work there. A specific company would be the IRS itself. If I had to pick a specific job in the IRS it would be an internal revenue agent in the small division/ self-employment division where I would work with individuals and small businesses. I imagine working there will be challenging and also probably stressful but that is with any job. The environment would be very professional and by the book, everything very causal and with a business like setting. With that being said I think it would be fun and it is something where I would probably have great working experience, learn a lot and carry what I learn to the next business adventure in the future if I leave that specific job.
