1.0 Introduction
In my life, it has necessary to take a retrospective look into my career to be able to acquire foresight for future planning for my career field in Marketing. Career planning is needed to monitor steady advancement within my career and also has assisted me to feel satisfied with achievements that I would have attained during my career thus far. Frequent evaluation of my career plan has been required to ensure that my skill sets and knowledge are up to mark with the demands of the job as well as to ensure future promotion. The assignment I have written outlines the check points that I have personally established in my life to ensure the smooth and steady climb up the ladder of my chosen career in Marketing. 2.0 Developing a Career Plan

A career plan is the steps of action an individual must take in order to chart their course along a particular career path. ‘Planning can help to establish matches between organizational objectives and employee career goals’ (Mac Donald, Arthur 2004, p. 149). When I am analysing my career plan, I analyse several factors in my life: my “bring” competencies, personality, family life and recreation, desired income and career vision. 2.1 “Bring” competencies

Everyone is born with a talent to be naturally good at something in their lives. This talent can be used if recognised or can be neglected depending on the individual. In my case, I am naturally good at being detailed oriented and can multitask without effort. This is a great asset within my chosen career and has assisted me during my career journey. A “bring” competency can and should be used to assist the individual along their chosen career path. 6

2.2 Personality
There are personality traits that compliment different careers as shown in Holland‟s Personality – Job Fit Theory (Baruch 2004, p. 45).
