Final Exam Career Essay

Since my childhood I have always had a curiosity and an unquenchable enthusiasm to discover the unknown and reach towards unexplored paths. I grew up in El Paso, TX and I was brought up in a small family consisting of my mom, grandma and my younger brother. In hindsight I believe that my mother influenced me immensely to find my true identity and instilled a strong self-confidence within me to express my ideals. She also made me realize that life is certainly about overcoming challenges and that every obstacle faced makes one stronger to deal with the challenges of life. What she said had impacted me on choosing between my dream careers as a nurse, massage therapist, or being an architect.
I had always wanted to be a nurse as a kid, but i never knew growing up that there were so many nursing jobs. Once I got into high school I started doing more research on what type of nurse I would want to have a career in. Once senior year came I was well into knowing what my future nursing career would be in, I choose Neonatal nurse. I have always loved kids especially infants and this fit me well and have made this my first career choice. Neonatal nurses, like all nurses, are in high demand. Neonatal nurses work specifically with newborns; they are like other nurses in that they care for patients and educate their patients. Neonatal refers to the first 28 days of life, therefore newborn care. Neonatal care is new compared to other nursing specialties such as adult health. The field began in the 1960’s; Neonatal nurses devote time and attention to ensuring healthy and successful outcomes for babies. Neonatal nurses work in one of three levels; depending if a nurse gets promoted or has higher education than a nurse can move up levels.
