Re: Career Development Plan Summary
The Secretary of the Department of Revenue has notified me that the Tax Audit Department will be restructured. The restructuring of the department will effective everyone in the department. All employees will have new responsibilities and due to the new responsibilities we must hiring additional staff members. It will be mandated that all employees (new and old) attend training classes. Unfortunately, the performance appraisals that are currently in place will also be changing, just a little.
Job Descriptions and Qualifications
We have been charged with hiring five additional employees to our Audit team. These positions will include: (1) Tax Audit Manager and (4) Tax Auditor 1.
Tax Audit Manager: To manage all staff engaged in performing audits of corporate taxpayers for the purpose of determining compliance with State tax laws, which may include investigations of criminal violations.
* Establish goals and priorities in accordance with the objectives of the overall audit program for the district office.
* Train and educate auditors on changes in tax laws and operational procedure to ensure the continuous development of their staff.
* Review completed cases and reports for adherence to standards, proper application of laws and principles and adequate documentation.
* Oversees the activities of the district office.
Minimum Education, Training and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field with twenty-four semester hours in accounting, six year of professional level experience in tax auditing, in which three year must be at the supervisory level. Master’s degree preferred.
