Car Accident
I used to be the kind of person who thought nothing could ever hurt me, until a usual morning turned into a disaster, which made me realize that life can be taken abruptly. My event is my car accident. After waving goodbye to my parents, I was off to work on a beautiful evening. It was August 2, 2002 I worked at Burger Kind which was in Perrysburg, Ohio. I remember listening that day to Alanis Morisette, looking at the beautiful wild daisies freshly blossoming on the side of the road. Then, all of a sudden, I heard a loud noise, which was the driver's side tire blowing out. That's when everything spun out of control. I remember hearing the air bag bursting out then lost control. I headed straight for the ditch and end for end my convertible two times and smashed into the ditch upside down the opposite way I was going. Soon after the convertible started to roll, I was knocked unconscious. When I woke up, my front half of my body was in between the front seat with my head in the back seat. A neighbor who was checking his field saw the entire event and rushed to help me. He called 911 for me once they arrived they had to use jaws of Life to get me out of the car which was in the ditch. A few minutes after I hear life flight landing. Within minutes, I was in the trauma center at Toledo Hospital. Later, I was in my room with minor injuries and stayed for observation. After that day, I came to realize that life is too precious to be taken for granted. I try to take each day and make it worthwhile. When my history teacher gives me reading homework, I rejoice in the fact I am here to read it at all, and that I can learn, instead of being a vegetable in the hospital like so many are after terrible car accidents. A doctor told me that I was lucky to be alive. Now, I live every day like it is my

Friday, October 24th was the day I almost died. I got in a life-threatening car accident. My seatbelt saved my life. If I didn’t have my seatbelt on when I wrecked I would be dead even with medical attention. I swerved to prevent a wreck between the black suv, the other car involved in the accident at fault, and myself by swerving. Swerving may not have been the best idea because I lost control of the car and ended up, upside down in a ditch with a completely missing window, a caved in roof that would have collapsed on my head if I was a tiny bit taller, a cracked all over windshield, a demolished side mirror barley attached to the car, a lot of dents, out of place tires, bits of glass inside the car, and broken inside mirrors.…

My life has been shaped in a variety of ways but two car accidents in particular have come to define who I am today. I will begin when I was two years old. My father was involved in a terrible accident, which I cannot remember due to age; however, I can clearly recall the repercussions to this day. Though he avoided death, my father was handicapped to a point where he can no longer run or move in any quick fashion. As an athlete and father of three boys who loved sports, he was understandably devastated. Over the next few years through incredible perseverance and astounding resolve, my father taught me what it meant to be a man. I learned that life will deal you hapless situations over and over if you let it, and that these situations can only…

    Life Changing Event

Throughout my life I can definitely say that I have one life-changing event that rises above the rest. In my junior year of high school, 2008, a very close friend of mine, Renay, passed away unexpectedly. At only 16, she fell victim to a drunk driving accident. Renay was a dear friend to me. We had a special friendship and connection we shared through dance and sports. I miss the days when life was simple; we would go to the mall to hangout and shop for shoes. This was one of our favorite things to do together. One year for her birthday, which happened to coincide with spring break, she and her family went down to Rosarito. Three days before her birthday she and her cousin were driving back to their hotel from a restaurant where her cousin was drinking. As they were driving in Rosarito there are very winding roads. Renay’s cousin was speeding and lost control of the vehicle, unfortunately going down a cliff. The morning I got the call saying she was in an accident and didn’t make it was the day my life had changed, I remember falling to the ground in tears thinking is this an awful dream I will eventually wake up from. The answer was no, she was gone and I would never be able to hold or hug her again. Joseph T. O’Connor explains in his article “A view from Mount Ritter” “It’s funny how these memories keep coming back to me as if it were just yesterday”(13). I agree with O’Connor there is not a day that passes by that I do not think of Renay and her tragic loss. My friends and I did so many fundraisers to help her family bring her body back from Rosarito. We were able to help her family tremendously. Her funeral was in Ohio where she was originally from, the car ride up to Ohio from San Diego was quit and sad because we all knew with everything we did to help her family would not bring back our sweet Renay. As a result of the death of my best…

The accident made me realize that nothing is for certain and you shouldn’t take anything for granted. I had always viewed riding a school bus has something that wouldn’t put me in danger, after all the drivers are trained professionals, right? What I never considered was the actions of others and how complete strangers can change your life in a bigger and more significant way than some of the people closest to you. I had never really considered dying at a young age because my grandparents lived to be old. After that bus ride home my outlook on life was severely changed and I started to appreciate my parents more an tell them I loved them a lot more often because wasn’t sure if we’d both be around to say it the next time.…

On Christmas day in the year of 2006, I got a gas scooter. I was so happy when I got it, because all the kids in my neighborhood had one. After, I ate dinner on Christmas I got dress and put some warm clothes on so I could go ride my scooter. It was a cold and windy day, but the sun was shinning really bright. So, when I got finished getting dress I went outside and got on my scooter. I was riding down the street, when this boy name Trevor started chasing me. I was going so fast it felt like I was going 90mph. When I finally got to my driveway, I was going so fast that I couldn’t stop. When I turned into my driveway I went over a hump so fast that it made the scooter turn over. When I realized it had turn over, I was on ground with the scooter laying on top of me. I was screaming for help, but nobody couldn’t hear me. About 5 minutes later, Trevor was standing over me laughing, and all I could say can you please help me because I was in so much pain. I was laying on the ground about 30 minutes until I seen a car pull up. I was so happy, because I really needed so help, so when I thought they was out the car I started screaming help again and when I looked it was my cousin Tashia trying to get the scooter off of me. When she finally got the scooter off of me she helped me into the house, because I could barely walk.
