When it comes to HIPAA, ICD, CPT, and HCPCS on how they influence each of the ten steps of the medical billing process, HIPAA influences the billing process by maintaining HIPAA compliance, as far as confidentiality and the handling of the medical record. When it comes to ICD, CPT, and HCPCS they influence the billing process they are the reference source where the codes are contained that are used to find the diagnosis, procedure, and the supply codes. But the HIPAA, ICD, CPT, and HCPCS they are all some kind of way related to have something to do with the billing process, but the ten steps during the process are 1. Preregistration

2. Establishment of financial responsibility
3. Checking patients in
4. Checking patients out
5. Review coding compliance
6. Verifying billing compliance
7. Preparation and transmittal of claims
8. Monitoring of payer adjudication
9. Generation of patient statement
10. Follow up of payments by the patients and the handling of collection By having the ten step process is basically a layout for the staff to know how to do everything step by step process so there is no confusion. HCPCS, HIPAA, CPT, and ICD all influence the ten step process in some kind of way. HIPAA is for the reporting procedure of hospital inpatients, CPT is a numerical code to diagnose that are assigned by a coding team, ICD has three digits, and these three can be followed by a decimal point and then two more digits, HCPCS this is a code for process hospital treatment for outpatient services. It is important for the staff who works for the billing process center to make sure that they are following the steps so that they can make sure that everything is getting done the way it is supposed to be, and that there are no mistakes what so ever.
