Chapter 3
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND, RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
This part of the project discusses about the current processes in Miso Dental Clinic. The researchers identified the problems and difficulties in the existing system. It shall help the researchers to clearly state the changes and solutions that will be implemented in the proposed system, the ABAP-based: Patient Record Management System for Miso Dental Clinic.
Current Procedure in Miso Dental Clinic Miso Dental Clinic stores data about the patient into a paper-based catalogue which holds information of patients.
Add Registration. The health official evaluates if the patient is already registered in their paper based. If the patient is new, registration form is filled out the patient information sheet which includes the information about the patient such as; name of the patient, address, telephone number, age, occupation, status and complain. However if the patient is already registered, the patient is listed on the schedule list and the patient waits for his turn. Patient goes to the doctor with the registration form for the doctor to know the complaint of the patient.
Consultation. In the consultation the doctor check-up the patient whatever is the complaint. If medicine is required the doctor will issue a recite for medicine. However if follow-up check up is needed the doctor will an appointment.
Update patient profile. After the check up of the patient the doctor filled out the patient form which are the date of consultation, number of consultation, time of consultation, description of consultation.
Payment. After the consultation was done the patient goes to the cashier with the registration form. And the cashier filled out the payment column in the patient form which is the total amount to be paid, the balance if necessary and the bill receipt will be issued.

When you bill a patient you want to be sure that you are not only doing it correctly but that you are charging or sending the bill to the right person whether it be the patient or the patients’ insurance company. With the ten steps to the medical billing process you want to make sure that you are doing it in the correct order. First you want to make sure that you are pre-registering the correct patient and that you are inputting their information as well as their insurance information in the system correctly. After this has been completed you are now able to schedule appointments for this patient. The next step in the process is to establish financial responsibility (who is paying for the medical bills), whether it be the patient or the insurance company. If the insurance company is assuming financial responsibility you want clarify what insurance plan the patient is falling under as well as what procedures are not covered and what financial responsibilities the patient may have (copayment). After all of this is complete, then comes checking in the patient. When checking in new patients, they need to fill out a detailed medical information sheet that will be kept on file and if they are not a new patient all they will do is review this sheet to see if anything has changed or needs to be updated. You also what to obtain a copy of their insurance card, both front and back and keep this on record as well. All medical diagnosis and procedures are given a medical code, these codes are extremely important when it comes to step four of the process, review coding compliance.…
