Personal Statement
I grew up in a family where my parents were very entrepreneurial and from an early age I learnt how to market and sell various products. By the time I left high school and joined university, I was in the business industry for keep and hence this interest in pursuing a Masters degree in International Business. I am thoroughly intrigued by the inventiveness and uniqueness of the programme and believe that I will increase my practical knowledge of entrepreneurship by interacting with my classmates. I value the fact that the education involved in the programme does not stop at the classroom, but rather continues through internships and extracurricular activities. I feel that a business school should balance theory with real-world application, and the curriculum and opportunities for handson training available at London Metropolitan University provides this balance. I completed my undergrad studies in Business Information Technology at Strathmore University in Kenya, Nairobi where I graduated with a 1st Class Honors. My final year project focused on the fast food industry for which I developed an online ordering solution that can be accessed both via mobile and the computer utilizing Mpesa and PayPal as modes of payment. Throughout my degree, the course units have revolved around Information Technology, business organization and management and over the years I have developed a keen interest in the business development aspect and would like the opportunity to develop my skills in this area. My skills have been developed through internships and extra-curricular activities in campus. AIESEC is a global student’s organization that provides a platform for students to experience fulfillment of their potential coupled with self and leadership discovery.
