Business Research Paper
To increase productivity, organizations must collect, process, and analyze every piece of information related to business such as marketing, stakeholders, and competition. When a particular problem is present within the organization, managers rely on researches to make informed and creative decisions. Research is defined as “…an organized, systematic, data-based, critical, objective, scientific inquiry or investigation into a specific problem, undertaken with the purpose of finding answers or solutions to it” (Sekaran, 2003. p. 5). Through research, organizational managers can create strategic plans, make well informed decisions, and solve problems to improve business success. In the educational field, educational leaders and directors need to find the reasons of the steady increase on high school dropouts in the United States. The “Family Profiles and Educational Attainment” (Robertson & Reynolds, 2009. p. 1) conducted a research on African American and Hispanic families of the city of Chicago in 2009. What were the business problems under investigation in this research, which data collection methods were used, and what researches deduced as a result of their research.
Problems under Investigation
According to the Alliance for Excellent Education (2009) “Over a million of the students who enter ninth grade each fall fail to graduate with their peers four years later” Fact Sheet, para. 1). This fact is becoming a big issue in the United States’ education system because studies have shown that “…graduation from high school has strong and direct impacts on employment, lifetime earnings, health, and criminal justice involment” (Robertson & Reynolds, 2009 para. 2).
