Global Business and Ethics
Business globalization is growing and ethical issues become challenging. Managers are beginning to observe the difficulties in doing business internationally because of culture issues, language barriers, and regulations. The purpose of the paper is to describe ethical issues that became evident as a result of globalization. Compare ethical perceptions across cultures in regards to the situation. Determine which risks and consequences were associated with the dilemma. The author will conclude his or her opinion on globalization.
According to De George (2006) “The United States is a world power; just as its political interests extend far beyond its borders, so do its economic interests.” Economically this is believed to be a result of expansion and communications with major countries. Ethically the American method is understandable but internationally this is believed to be different and reasons to why the American businesses decided to begin globalization. According to De George (2006) “Business in the United States is constrained by various laws, by a set of accepted ways of conducting business, by a variety of understood practices and shared values, and by labor unions, consumer and environmental groups, and a host of other informal organizations and mechanisms.” Internationally there is no equivalent international structure in regards to the business world. Background institutions are the structures that a company operates within. Even though these background institutions differ, similarities play the role between many developed countries. According to Wed Dictionary (2010) “The term developed country, is used to describe countries that have a high level of development according to some criteria.” The criteria in some developed countries there are fewer constraints...
