We expressed this message through an advertisement in the form of a poster. Donation is a money related issue, so we plan to have the poster near trading posts and banks, where people have access to money or food to donate. Since donation is not as interesting of a concern, people could forget about it after hearing through the radio. Posters cause the reader to have to use cognitive skills which makes the information have a greater impact on them.…

A large part of the activities involved in this project consisted of convincing a community saturated with solicitation that our cause was worthy and they should donate. Since there was a lot of solicitation already in this area it was very difficult to pierce through the skepticism and suspicion of merchants. Our team found it hard to convince the area merchants to make a donation of goods or money. Every positive outcome was doubly appreciated because it was a success of our tactics and also brought us closer to our goal. We asked 38 merchants for donations and received 22 donations of money, food, or merchandise. Every yes we received caused enthusiasm to persevere and the momentum was used as a tool to convince others about the great cause.…

Corporate Social Responsibility is a management concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns in their business operations and interactions with their stakeholders. CSR is generally understood as being the way through which a company achieves a balance of economic, environmental and social imperatives (“Triple-Bottom-Line- Approach”), while at the same time addressing the expectations of shareholders and stakeholders. In this sense it is important to draw a distinction between CSR, which can be a strategic business management concept, and charity, sponsorships or philanthropy. Even though the latter can also make a valuable contribution to poverty reduction, will directly enhance the reputation of a company and strengthen its brand, the concept of CSR clearly goes beyond that.…

The first way to be charitable is to donate. Donation is an act of presenting something as a gift, grant, or contribution (Donation, 2013). There are many types of donation which are donating money, goods, blood, and organs. People usually donate money to help the ones in need. Donating money is easy because nowadays we can donate by transferring money online or even through cell phones. Some people donate money to organizations or charities that will help people in need. People also donate money to help build temples or to help public hospitals buy expensive medical machines to help the sick. Donating used goods is another common type of donation. People donate used clothes and household items to help victims during disasters. There are a lot of people who don’t have enough clothes and items during Tsunami. People also donate used toys and clothes to the orphanage. Blood donation is also a common type of donation. People who donate blood improve and save the lives of many patients. Blood donations benefit the donors by allowing them to have the basic blood test, burning calories, and reducing the chance of heart disease. Along with donating blood, people can also donate organs to help others. People can register as…

On the surface, it appears that it is not in a person’s best self-interests to donate money to help villagers in Pakistan. The giver experiences monetary loss and the diminution of personal financial wealth, and expends time, energy, and effort in the donation-transaction process. He or she receives neither public acknowledgement nor donor recognition. There are, however, intangible benefits that the giver may reap as a result of his or her deed, such as the satisfaction that he or she receives from giving monetary aid to the Pakistanis or the happiness that he or she experiences for acting in accordance with his or her values. It is in the giver’s self-interest and, therefore, his or her moral duty to give monetary aid to those plagued by the Pakistan floods.…

Over the past few years, DiGi has aimed to integrate socially and environmentally responsible practices across business and organizations. Their corporate responsibility (CR) strategy addresses three areas: minimizing environmental footprint, engaging with community, and driving integrity and empowerment in the DiGi workplace and marketplace. In this case study, the focus will be on the ‘CR-in-products’ or social products that DiGi is offering to lower income and migrant segments in Malaysia. There are elements that fall in the ‘social products’ category — one is the services and packages highly targeted to the migrant segments, while the other is the mobile money remittance solution called DiGiREMIT.…
