Starbucks’ Newest Expansion
When hearing the word Starbucks, the last thing you may think about is burgers and a bar environment, but that is all about to change this June. Starbucks recently obtained La Boulange, (which is known for it fruit-laden pastries and various breads), in 2012 for a total of $100 million in cash. At the time, Chief Executive Howard Schultz said the purchase was an investment in Starbucks’ growing food business. The new restaurant will feature later hours, closing at 10pm each night along with various food options including sandwiches and build-your-own burgers, along with a full bar serving- cocktails, beers, and various wines. This is something that we’ve never seen at our local Starbucks’ chains. Some speculation of Starbucks’ starting to expand their menu like this has been talked about for years, and now is finally coming into action. Even though Starbucks is opening La Boulange with a more extensive menu, The original Starbucks locations will still be offering their various coffees, lattes, and fine baked goods, Starbucks will also extend its post-4 p.m. evenings menu to thousands of stores around the country. Many people are excited to see these new changes, and are anticipating whether it will be successful or not. The move is part of an overall trend by Starbucks to expand beyond its expertise in coffee into areas such as tea and juice. The opening for La Boulange is set for Thursday June 12th 2014.

Identifying disabilities are often difficult. Often times when children are identified at a young age are able to get services under the Individuals with Disability Education Act (IDEA). In some cases, the child is not diagnosed early and they are placed in the pre-referral process. Schools have implemented the pre-referral process, under the revision of Individuals with Disability Education Act (IDEA). The pre-referral process is recognizing, developing, and applying different teaching tactics for children with documented problems in the classroom before the child is referred to special education. Through the pre-referral process students are now receiving the interventions they need, since the revision and implementation of IDEA. When a problem is noticed, the teacher should review any information that will help understand any issues the student is having. The teacher can try interventions to help minimize the issue. Today, financial journalism has taken the centrestage. Economic decision making is decentralised to the extent that it has never been before. This has made economic coverage an all the more sensitive affair. The Indian economy was liberalised in 1991 and its doors ere thrown open to multinational corporations. Consequently, a large number of tie-ups with foreign companies were witnessed. This led to the emergence and growth of more economic newspapers and periodicals. Even the existing ones expanded. They changed their newsprint, design and presentation. The general newspapers started devoting more pages to cover various aspects of the economy. The electronic media stared telecasting special programmes on industry, stock markets and exchange rates. These changes required a certain degree of specialisaiton. This brought in people with MBA and CA qualifications to analyse trends in stock markets, mutual funds, NBFCs and various segments of the industry. Handout journalism is being replaced by hard analysis. The thrust now is to provide people with genuine information. The new developments have opened up opportunities for journalists. Increasing number of journalists today are joining financial journalism…
