Global Warming is defined by Merriam-Webster.com as “an increase in the earth's atmospheric and oceanic temperatures widely predicted to occur due to an increase in the greenhouse effect resulting especially from pollution”.   Is Global Warming fact or fiction?   Is the Earth’s average temperature higher today than it has been for hundreds or even thousands of years?   Is it humanity or nature that now controls the climate system?   Is there evidence of a man-made climate change?   Do we need to drastically reduce our greenhouse gas emissions in order to save the planet?  

There are many questions surrounding Global Warming and the answers seem to depend on the views of the person or organization that is giving them.   The two factions can be generally divided into two camps each with their own political, social and economic agendas that they want to become public policy.   Each side also has their own data that they offer as evidence to support their cause.

The pro Global Warming supporters tend to be more socially and economically liberal.   In the Unite State the primary supporters are the Democrat Party, the main-stream media, unions and progressive organizations.   All of these groups seem to hold common beliefs.   They believe that Global Warming is man-made.   The primary activities they cite are burning fossil fuels, carbon emissions in general and cutting down of rain forests. They believe that Global Warming is a crisis that will lead to a worldwide catastrophe. They believe that actions need to be taken by governments, scientist and the public to prevent this catastrophe.
