Montgomery bus boycott

The bus boycott was direct effect of the arrest of Rosa Parks because she would not give up her seat for a white passenger. The NAACP decided to fight the charges put against Rosa Parks, because they saw it as unconstitutional. The outcome of this situation was violent and full of hate. White citizens responded with lawsuits and violence, the boycott was a success because the Supreme Court threw out the Montgomery bus law. Rosa Parks was launched to national fame for her brave actions.

Freesom Rides

The freedom rides were put together by the “Freedom Riders”, a civil rights activists group. They challenged the continued segregation of public transportation. They wanted the US government to enforce its own rules and decisions. Freedom rides started popping up in many locations and violence started to spread. The KKK started to form mobs and began beating anyone who supported the freedom rides. There were times where the freedom rides were on and off due to the violence. This whole event and process was filled with violence. The overall success of this event was not instant but eventually the message got through and the segregation laws were suspended.

March on Washington

The march on Washington was led by the citizens who were fed up with the ridiculous segregation laws. They marched onto the nation’s capital on August 28th, 1963. Songs of freedom was sung in the crowd and the demands of the people were on signs and explained a varied amount of speeches. The most famous speech given was by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr King expressed that is whites did not take their efforts seriously then it would result to a more violent approach. The outcome of this event was not violent but it was daring which is why it eventually became a success.
