A local business that I frequently shop at is Target. I go there on almost an every other day basis to get groceries and other necessities that I need, and sometimes just to burn time. Since they have remodeled to sell produce and groceries I go there even more now. The main components of a business model are its business occupation, business commerce, and business organization. Business as a commerce is a process in which people exchange goods, trade goods, produce goods and services. Targets business commerce is trade. Over the years Target has expanded, they are engaged in not only the trade of goods, but also services to fit people’s needs as well. Most Targets stores Provide a variety of services for people, from a pharmacy, to a photo studio, Starbucks, Pizza Hut Express, etc.
The businesses occupation has the set of abilities and skills that allows the organization to create a certain value to the people in the goods and services that they offer. In the case of Target, a highly efficient set of skills and abilities exist. The company is set up to encourage efficiency and mass purchasing power, which allows Target to undercut its competitor’s pricing. Furthermore, it invests significant amounts of money in employee training, which supports the skill set of Targets store as a business.
Organization is the system of authority and the relationships that help control interactions between people and move the organization toward a common goal. Targets organization is one of its strong points, as it is organized according to a divisional structure, utilizing a market structure. Target, over the years, has expanded its market structure greatly, which allows it to offer a multitude of products and services at about the same prices of the competition or just a tad lower than the other, but people go there because of its convenient location, its customer service, and quality
