Bullying

Bullying is a Global problem. Bullying occurs at both schools and the workplace. A British source, estimates that 53 percent of adults are verbally bulled by a husband or wife or also a live in partner. Bullying has lasting negative effects, such as lowered self esteem and at times even suicide. Bullying among school age kids happens worldwide. A survey published in Pediatrics in Review reveals that in Norway, 14 percent of the children are involved in bullying, either as bullies or as victims. In Japan 15 percent of primary elementary school children say that are bullied, in Australia and Spain 17 percent of students, and in Britain one expert estimated that 1.3 million children are involved in bullying.
Many bullies claim that they are not bullies. They say the victim is just a friend and they are doing an innocent prank. Others ask “what is Bullying?” Bullying was once referred to as “a willful, conscious desire to hurt another and put him/her under stress”. There are various types of bullying. Some forms of bullying aren’t considered bullying to the average person. A few types of bullies are physical, verbal, relationships, and reactive bullies.

Physical bullies act out on anger by hitting, shoving, or kicking their chosen victim. Other physical bullies act out by damaging their targets property. Verbal bullies use words to hurt and humiliate their target by name calling, insults, or harsh teasing. Relationship bullies spread rumors about their targets. Reactive victims are victims of bullying who turn into bullies themselves. All types of bullying can have lasting effects that damage a person for long periods of time.
A report from the National Association of school Psychologists say that every day more than 160,000 children miss school because they fear of being bullied.
